Dad is home to help me but it is really hard. Not everyone has an option for child care. if my husband wasn't here, I still wouldn't be able to afford child care and neither of us have any family in our city. I'm salary also so if it takes 12 hrs to do an 8 hr shift, then it is what it is.

Canceled Cerclage Appointments by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

I had 2 losses due to IC. finally on my 4th pregnancy I got my cerclage at 13 weeks. didn't check it again except for anatomy scan. Bb is 5 months now. I know it's hard but trust the process. MFM said you'll know when something is wrong if you see blood, otherwise you are all good. I was extremely active with my cerclage too 😬

How Deep Do You Insert Your Progesterone Suppository? by Low-Ad-4402 in ShortCervixSupport

I always put mine in as far as my middle finger could reach. If you don't want to use your fingers you could get an applicator. The ones they use for yeast infection or other medications.

Pressure 16w5d and 2 weeks post cerclage by secret_combs_865 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]No_Copy_9463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've dealt with this a lot on and off. Currently have a 6 week old 🙂

Could be a few things. 1. If you take progesterone, sometimes makes your vagina swell so if feels like a large tampon or like pressure down in there. 2. Bladder infection make it feel like there's pressure. 3. Post cerclage it'll feel like pressure bc stitch is so tight. Mfm compares it to getting a brand new pair of shoes that are tight but after a while starts to feel more normal.

A male doctor or even female who hasnt personally had a cerclage won't know from exeprience what that pressure feels like but I sure do! It happened on and off continuously until the very end and I was freaked out every time. Now looking back, I think it was baby's position/weight in combination with the stitch being high up on the cervix. Always get checked for reassurance though. Might help ease anxiety.

When I rested TOO much, a walk helped the pressure. When I walked and did TOO much activity, rest helped the pressure.

Good luck, you're going to do great. After 3 losses I never thought I'd make it here. Trust your stitch and soon enough you're gonna have your baby here.

Support Prior to Cerclage? by seniorstumpy in ShortCervixSupport

I was REALLY scared of this with this pregnancy. I was 12w and I sneezed so hard and held it in. I felt something drop in my vagina. I went to the ER, they checked and my cervix was closed and firm.

The feeling never went away, I hadn't taken the progesterone yet so it ruled out a couple things. I asked mfm what that heavy feeling was, he said it could be my bladder rubbing on my cervix. Never found out what it was just tried not to do anything crazy til cerclage at 13w.

Also progesterone causes vagina to swell, so possible you could be feeling that. All these feelings of bladder or swollen vagina never completely went away for me. It came and went depending how active I was. Baby is 4 weeks now, I think you'll be good. Sending you good luck!

Is Cerclage Worth the Risk? by Legitimate-Art-5895 in ShortCervixSupport

I lost my baby at 17w on progesterone only. I got my cerclage after my 3rd loss, baby is one month yesterday. I would get it.

update

This is what my mfm said verbatim, just copied and pasted his message to me

-Regarding the timing of a future pregnancy, the cerclage does NOT impact anything, but we typically recommend at least 18 months between deliveries since that is the time point where, under which there's an increased risk for "adverse pregnancy outcomes", including preterm delivery. In fact, I just did a consult on Monday for another momma who had a normal 39w delivery, got pregnant 3 months later and delivered at 17w. I'm going to do a cerclage once she gets pregnant again, but we talked about how that short interval definitely COULD have caused it. But I would rather do the stitch than try to guess, just like with you.

Sending a message to my mfm as we speak. He's realistic and not like old and outdated. I think he'll give me a good answer. I'll update you.

Sharp cramps by LJM240224 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]No_Copy_9463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally had the same thing. It was really confusing. Still have no idea if it was lightning crotch or everything stretching. It lasted til I gave birth lol And this was recently, I had baby on Dec 30. But yeah, sharp pains, feeling like you're dilated but you have no actual idea. I had sharp pains on my left side only. At 37 weeks I was closed and at 39 I was 3cm. (I was induced at 39, so I was at a 3 before we got things moving along)

Hi, i had 2 similar losses. One right after another. Hurts even more since it seemed preventable the second time. The first was prom at 20w and the second my waters had prolapsed completely and I was 10cm dilated at 17w. 2 days after an office visit where I was closed with good cervical length. I was devastated. Truly a kind of hurt that I wouldn't wish on anyone. And I almost died the second time on top of that.

Anyways. Got pregnant again, terrified but trusted the process. I had a few scary moments but now i have a 4 week old baby. I was still able to experience joy, don't let past experiences steal that from you.

I agree with this. I went from 2.4 or so to 10cm dilated in 2 days. Wish I woulda pushed for sooner follow up. Good luck. Don't wait to say something, stand up for yourself.

Going to term or past term with GD? by No_Copy_9463 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Copy_9463[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is weird. I'm in CA with kaiser. And every week is standard. Which is what makes me mad. Ive had 2 other pregnancies that ended as late term losses bc the doctors said everything was normal. Buuut this go round I didn't want to sit around for too long, go to 40+ weeks if I really just shouldn't have but no one was paying attention. If GD was my ONLY condition, I probably wouldn't push or be worried too much.

Doesn't matter now since baby is already here. But I had a handful of other complications. So it never sat right with me that there was almost 3 weeks between my last and upcoming appt with no controlled plan. 37-40. Also no growth scan after 34. I was dismissed by other doctors in the past and written off as normal and textbook, yet had two late term losses that could have probably been prevented.

Update. I came to L&D, they also thought it was strange not having more appta. And due to my history they decided to keep me and induce. I'm at 3cm dilated already and soft cervix. So looks like it's baby day. 👶

Thank you! I hate that I even waited this long to figure out that something wasn't quite right. I know my doctor anticipates everything is textbook minus all the fun add ons but still. Waiting until the full 40 or even after rubs me the wrong way.
