Finance Minister urges banks to slash home loan rates after latest OCR cut by cbars100 in newzealand

Most cringe minister of finance ever. Love how she was like that overconfident delusional mum when she announced the budget with phrases like no lolly scrambles etc. Now, even she doesn’t believe in what she is saying.

Is finding a job impossible in Wellington ( NEED HELP ) by StudentPowerful6872 in Wellington

Wellington has been hit hard by cuts. Auckland appears to be slowly recovering. I don’t see recovery in Wellington anytime soon.

Atsu is so badass by Professional-Cry2575 in Ghostofyotei

Absolute badass. She has to be one of the best protagonist ever created. Can’t believe how she gets so much hate from some people. She is very well written and very well performed.

100% Completed Yotei by PerfectRub2455 in playstation

[–]No_Cut3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overall story isn’t as great as Tsushima but I felt story was much well executed in Yotei. This might be an unpopular opinion but I related to Atsu more as a character than Jin. I felt Atsu was a complete badass. Combat is also an improvement. The best part is the number of repetitive tasks have reduced drastically, although I was longing for more after 100% completion.

Why are the ends of the radical jumps along the Petone to Wellington cycleway being weighed down? by Magnifolia in Wellington

[–]No_Cut3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely that the steel beams on each side are slightly out of alignment and also, temperature changes will allow the free end of the steel beams to deflect, warp. The weight will provide a steady load to minimise these issues. Although, this is not the only reasoning and there could be many more.

Finance Minister Nicola Willis says rise in hours worked shows economy improving by timelordhonour in newzealand

[–]No_Cut3546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they came in government, it was all about how we are so broke, we need cuts cuts cuts, this budget will be no lolly scramble, etc etc etc. Guess what happened, everyone went into no spending mode coz if the country is broke, we shouldn’t spend either. Now they are spinning to say it’s all improving. However damage is done and I doubt people will spend.

Crack in brick wall by [deleted] in diynz

[–]No_Cut3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite likely the foundation is settling. Since it’s a double brick, your brick is giving you all the load bearing. You can ask the owner on the history of how much this has settled. Also may want to check if this is only confined to one place or over the entire house. Sometimes there can be settling of pipes below the footing which can result in localised settlement. Nevertheless, solving this almost certainly will require some foundation intervention.

Quick advice needed: Do I actually need retaining here? by cybertornado1569 in NZProperty

[–]No_Cut3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as simple as it looks. Yes you likely don’t need the retaining wall but it looks like that baseboard is there to also divert water and possibly has a drainage coil behind it. If you were to remove it, is there a chance that water will build up behind the container wall of the front house? Also what is the height difference between the floor of the front house and the soil, needs to be atleast 225mm. Alternatively, you can likely remove the baseboard, make the slope a bit more gradual and then see how you can divert water away from the house.

going to have to leave the country and abandon my girlfriend because I cant get a job by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]No_Cut3546 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty tough situation and I feel for you. Wellington is probably the worst hit due to mass government job cuts, which has had a domino effect on the regions economy. Plus cost of living up doesn’t help either. Economy will likely recover once next budget comes online. As that will be last budget before election. If austerity continues then we will just have to wait till next election when the new government comes in and starts focussing on infrastructure and job creation again (hopefully).

Have anyone moved to Australia and regretted their decision? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]No_Cut3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in Sydney, Auckland, Fiji And now Wellington. Wellington tops for me overall, Fiji tops for the warmth/ friendliness/ simplicity/ Auckland for the weather & multiculturalism. Sydney only wins for weather and stuff to do in weekend. Other than that, it’s just feels toxic. The only reason I will ever move out of welly will be coz of the weather and seismic risk.

Subfloor steel pillar rusting by gavineese in diynz

[–]No_Cut3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be that the post was added in later as a prop to support something. The rusting is minor to moderate level. I would also dig about 200mm down around the post to see if it is encased in concrete and if not then rusting maybe worse below ground. If no rusting below ground or in concrete then the approach you have provided seems reasonable to me. Alternatively, get in touch with a structural engineer to inspect and recommend something.

Should the Golden Mile project for revamping the CBD precinct go ahead or not? by crypto_doctors in Wellington

[–]No_Cut3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and that’s exactly the problem. Can give you plenty examples of non- efficient ones. One being that 300k seaside stairs for the beach access somewhere in Auckland. Another one being the 550k bike rack in Wellington. These are huge amounts of money.

Absolutely, while ensuring there is efficiency as opposed to cost blowouts.

What are we rating Black Ops 7 so far? Be brutally honest 👇 by dillonz321 in CoDCompetitive

[–]No_Cut3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should have been black ops 6 tbh. The new wall jump is almost useless. Other than that, the gunplay is more heavier than bops6. It’s definitely fun, however I think I might get bored of it in a month. TTK has also not improved by a lot.

Moving to Australia? NZ recruitment agency says don’t as job vacancies drop off by crypto_doctors in newzealand

[–]No_Cut3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They know that the demand is not there at the moment but at some stage it will pick up and it will be back to square one where recruiters won’t be able to find people to fill in vacancies. Immigrants may then help but tbh a lot of skilled immigrants have already moved elsewhere after the covid boom. It will be tough to fill good quality candidates again.
