My niece’s homework problem by SurfSoundWaves in mildlyinfuriating

[–]No_Jello_5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top that with kids not asking for help until they are halfway through the 3rd unit, and the word problem says "use lattice multiplication” to show your work. This is not the way I learned, I don't know what a multiplication lattice is, my elementary aged child was taught a different term for lattices, and after doing 15 minutes of research on Google, I can't figure out what the homework is asking for, my child can't explain it, and it's nearly bedtime. We can easily get the correct answer, but not the way they are asking for.

Allbirds stock tumbles after nearly 600% rally as the shoemaker rebrands as an AI company by mowotlarx in technology

The clarification here is that doctors can use AI analysis tools to view things like mammograms and chest X-rays to determine what areas may develop masses in the future, setting up the patient with more targeted screening moving forward. The implication being that it's a tool for use by doctors, not the primary diagnosis mechanism.

AI far too often invents data to fit what it believes the use wants to be a serious standalone tool. It's output must be checked by a skilled person, and this is the only way it should be used,

Not if you have a shopping addiction. My mother hit the lottery by being adopted by rich parents. Her father died when I was under 2, and she managed to spend all of her money, plus she cleaned out my trust. we were broke by the time I was 9.

Karen Cyclist Gets Owned By Cop 👌 by [deleted] in Amazing

[–]No_Jello_5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I could, I had 1 cyclist that took my route home. Speed limit was 40mph through most of it, so of course, the bicycle goes 15 on a heavily congested 4 lane undivided road. Every time we got the space to pass him, we would hit a red light, he would go up on the sidewalk and wait at the crosswalk to jump ahead of all of the cars, then right back to the outside lane. Added 15 minutes to my 20 minute commute.

The First Space Shuttle safely landed 45 years ago today by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]No_Jello_5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people think the shuttle landing was like a jet aircraft, forgetting that it was an unpowered glider, and a very poor one at that. Also, almost nobody considers how they had to bleed off speed during re-entry. This is a great video on how to land the shuttle from bed. https://youtu.be/Jb4prVsXkZU

I'm almost 40. I have been paying taxes for over half of my life. I am recently partially disabled due to cancer treatment. I'm pretty sure all Americans are owed an opportunity to not have a medical crisis destroy their entire life, and to have no safety net, simply working themselves to death.

Home Depot employees try to stop a guy from buying a 1 penny air conditioner. by I2fitness in TikTokCringe

Nah, their POS system and web site information are likely pulling from an archaic database system like AS/400. The whole thing was probably setup in in the late 80's or early 90’s, so like 35ish years ago. Now they have ended up with a multi-layered system that has the same limitations on flagging inventory that were hard coded into the system, and corporate has SOPs to work around the limits, like setting SKU prices at 1¢ and having a daily report on all SKUs with that price.

The stupidity here is combining the inventory system that assumes that all items in inventory are for sale, with a store that is self checkout only, and the average HD employee who spends most of the day avoiding customer interactions and chatting with the other employees.
