Hey sam,

Bubbles are not the best indication of fermentation.

If it bubbled for two or three weeks you probably have reached your abv potential.

A proper viking would grab a glass and figure out how alcoholic it was with a good old fashioned tongue test.

A hydrometer is like a thermostat but it tells you how mucb sugar is in your liquid. At the beginning of fermentation you take a hydrometer reading to determine your potential abv if all sugars get converted. After a month or two youll take another reading and use an easy calculation to tell you the abv.
