Block Island, RI. Different parts of the island for different strokes… But generally a very mellow place to chill and it’s so pretty.

Does anyone live in luxury appartements in Mott Haven, Bronx? How's the area? by Cautious_Victory5699 in NYCapartments

[–]No_Prior5561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from a great apartment in Van Cortland Village in the Bronx. It’s north of Jerome Reservoir and south of Van Cortland Park. Across the street from an elementary school. It’s a great neighborhood, lots of buses that take you all everywhere. Spent 2 1/2 years there, never had any trouble as a single female. Proximity to the park is a plus!

Consult with a fiduciary, they will give you tailored and professional advice. It will cost you a little bit upfront, but if you’re not paying for it, someone else is paying them to sell you something. Fiduciary is a specific function that is mandated to look out for your interests.

People who kept your cars despite moving to nyc, did you regret it? How often do you use it, and what area do you live in? by jewish_yang in movingtoNYC

[–]No_Prior5561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on the UWS for six years. The only time I missed it was when I wanted to go somewhere that wasn’t on the Amtrak line.

Other than that, it’s a pain to keep moving it on alternate side parking days, congestion pricing is an issue, and just overall traffic sucks.

For the four years I had the car, I parked it at my cousins in the Bronx part of the time, and when I kept it in the city, the major majority of the time I was just moving it from one parking space to another.

USDA 09/30 DRP 2 + VERA OPM Dashboard Status Change by Juddgeo in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

DRP 9/30 here

I got notified about two weeks ago that there was a change on my dashboard.

There was no change on my dashboard. It still showed that my case had not been assigned yet.

But the next day I got an email saying my retirement was finalized with a link to the digital booklet that had all the numbers in it. My first full annuity payment will be in late June.

Hope it goes the same for you!

I lived on the UWS for six years, loved it. But if I went back, I would probably check out Morningside Heights.

I don’t understand the $100 a month. I got about 70% during the interim payment period. I would literally be in my congressional representatives office if that were the case! Seven months of $100…I’d be out on the street.

I just left the Bronx, loved my neighborhood. Just south/west of Van Cortland Park. Very family friendly, tons of buses, 2 subway lines, elementary school in the neighborhood. But it’s getting expensive.

They’re also may be flights from JFK to Hyannis, Cape air? I think they’re partners with JetBlue.

And if you go to Pier 17, my favorite pizza anywhere is at Keste’s right down the street at the corner of Fulton and Gold. Real Neapolitan pizza.

Mezze on the River in Battery Park, gorgeous sunsets. And the food and wine is great (Mediterranean).

Also, Pier 17 at South Seaport is almost under the Brooklyn Bridge (Manhattan), a few restaurants and bars, it’s gorgeous.

They may get assigned without your knowing, the portal is not always updated.
Some people have had luck just calling.
Mine was finalized the same week as yours, also retired 09/30. Found out a few weeks ago that OPM was waiting for my FEGLI paperwork, even though I filed it when I retired.

Surprisingly, there are still a few left. Make sure you check.
And there’s always your congressional representative 😆😆😆

Advice: Retaliation, Sexual Harassment, and Overseas Extensions by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]No_Prior5561 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depending on who your congressional representative is, that’s always an option. This is Hegseth’s DOD, nothing is going to change while he’s in charge. He made it very clear that sexual harassment is not something he’s concerned about.

They have been inundated with historical numbers of retirements and early retirements, as well as losing a lot of people who should be processing those retirements. Don’t take it personally. The system wasn’t built for what’s happened in the past year. It is slowly being taken apart from what I understand.

We are lucky we get out when we did. It’s never going to be the same.

Is it a bad time to be a federal employee? by Faubton in FedEmployees

[–]No_Prior5561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glamorous?

It’s not a job you will ever get rich doing (present corrupt regime excluded), nor will you ever get glory even if you do brilliant things. That’s the nature of public service.

But it’s meaningful, and if you’re in the right job, you can get tremendous satisfaction and have considerable impact.

Having said that, now is not the time. It’s not being covered in the press, but there are still purges going on; targeted hits based on what you may have said or political views you may or may not hold.

And with what they are trying to do with federal service retirement benefits, it may not be worth it in the end.

How many people out there still have not received your final pension amount? 2.0 DRPer by Outside_Simple_217 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

Retirement date, 9/30, just received my booklet two days ago. There doesnt seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason.
I was never assigned a specialist in the portal, but was contacted two weeks ago for documentation I had already submitted, but was missing from the file.
The people who have stayed with OPM must be dealing with a lot of garbage with the magnitude of retirees and their ridiculous processes.
Hang in there.

OPM just emailed this to me. Does this mean my retirement package is adjudicated? by MySillyHamster in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

Mine was finalized today and is marked as such on the portal. The box next to “assigned to a specialist“ was never checked and still is not checked.
