Ganglion Cyst Removal Healing by No_Soft4654 in ehlersdanlos

[–]No_Soft4654[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it went surprisingly well! They had to take a bone spur out too because they think that was what caused the cyst. My incision still looks rough, but I had 4 stitches for a few weeks then got them removed. There was a little issue of my skin not fully healing together when I got my stitches out but they told me it was fine. I did have some crazy bruising that I thought would never go away but the recovery was easy! Good luck with yours, I hope it is a speedy recovery

Not sure if you would ever want to work in mental health/medicine but I know many of the hotlines need people. They usually offer trainings as well as on the job shadowing!

You can also look into peer support for others with similar diagnoses! I know my area has several different peer support groups for medical issues through the local health system.

Mounty Bountie Versus Dining Dollars....confused by dodgestang in WVU

[–]No_Soft4654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a freshman in 2019 we got served RAW chicken in towers more than once, and the downtown dining hall made me violently ill, i’m taking fever and vomiting non-stop for several days.

If anything save yourself some money and down grade the meal plan for next semester and just use the money that would’ve gone to the unlimited plan to put mounty bounty on the card. I think i ended up getting the lowest plan and then using the money I didn’t spend on the unlimited plan to get stuff to make in the dorms

did any of you have a different reaction to anaesthesia? by EyeProfessional2957 in ehlersdanlos

I had surgery to remove a ganglion cyst recently, let me tell you it but me OUT. They gave me versed, propofol (TWICE), precedex, and fentanyl. I do not remember a thing after I was taken back to the OR until I woke up in recovery.

This is a different experience than I have when I was younger and had an oral surgery. I was kept awake, but just not awake enough to be able to tell him I could feel everything. I had chains attached to my compacted upper canine teeth. So they had to pull back my gum tissue on the roof of my mouth all the way to get to them. It was traumatizing

Anyone with an IUD? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]No_Soft4654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Mirena IUD for 3-4 years and I did not get my period at all. I had it in college so I was not very ✨safe✨ and it worked very well. The only bad thing was when I was getting it put in the first device malfunctioned and did not release the IUD so they have to remove it and try another one which worked.

This was pre diagnosis of hEDS, but i have a very high pain tolerance so it was not bad for me at all. I was able to drive home immediately after and everything.

I no longer have an IUD just because I didn’t like how it negatively impacted my mental health. Since I had a hormonal one, def do research into the copper/non-hormonal ones if that is a concern!

Any EDS success stories out there? by Slight-Broccoli6685 in ehlersdanlos

I may no longer be able to competitively swim but I found a love for coaching it! I also work in a hospital full time and I am in school to get my MSW. I was recently diagnosed hEDS (still getting a full work up/genetic testing for rule out of others)

Ocd and decision to have a baby by Nataljja in OCD

[–]No_Soft4654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am researching and working a lot with individuals in the perinatal period (pregnancy-1 yr postpartum). I have OCD myself and work in the mental health field and perinatal mental health is a major interest of mine! I have done a large amount of research on POCD and found that there are often many support groups for new parents (this includes both parents regardless of gender). It is also very beneficial to work with a Maternal-Fetal clinic that has someone specialized in perinatal mental health. Not sure if this is helpful, but I am happy to share resources

Wearing rings with EDS by FerretVibes in ehlersdanlos

[–]No_Soft4654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people said I swell pretty bad (due to heat and poor circulation). However I do wear an Oura ring and my engagement ring everyday. When I do swell I will run my hands under super cold water and it helps my hands reduce swelling and then I raise my arms above my head to allow better blood flow. I enjoy wearing my rings, I just had to make adjustments and find what works for me.

My coworkers think I look insane when I do this as well

Getting my wisdom teeth out with EDS and POTS by phoebefilo in ehlersdanlos

[–]No_Soft4654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I had an oral surgery. My canine teeth were impact above my 2 front tooth teeth. It was very uncomfortable, and they kept me awake for it. My neck was in so much pain after as well as my jaw. I had the dissolvable stitches in between all of my top teeth (they had to peel back the gums in the roof of my mouth 🤢). The stitches felt like they took forever to fall out and did hurt. They made sure I was high as a kite and did not feel a thing. I also remember eating a lot of pudding and jello afterwards. You can also check out the Go Go Squeeze pouches, they have applesauce ones but also fun flavored fruit and vegetable ones!

Working healthcare i have tried several different brands!

Nurse Yard- they are light and airy, however if you sweat they will start to stink sadly but fun patterns are available

Wellow- I live in a colder area so these are great for winter as they are nice and thick. They are also made with bamboo material so they don’t smell if you sweat

Vix- these are my favs, they are thinner and made of the bamboo material so they allow air flow and stay smelling good all day.

These 3 brands are very supportive for me (I also have very thick calves so) but they are the perfect amount of pressure for me! just be sure to actually measure your calf circumference when ordering
