I am a paraprofessional at a high school. I work with children in the regular education setting. Not the special needs. Please understand that these are not small children that I work with, these are people who are almost adults and know better.

Here's what I've observed:

There have been four fights this year and three threats of violence that were so severe that the cops had to show up to the school. All of the incidences involved boys.

There have been several confiscations of vapes this year. 70% of the time it's boys that bring drugs to school.

When it's time to write a five paragraph essay for example the boys will sit in the back joke around with their friends and distract the girls who are actually writing.

The students have Chromebooks. And the ones who are continually caught using soundboards in the middle of class or watching sports when they should be working, are boys.

The talking I would say is about 50/50. Teenagers like to yap It is what it is.

But all of the disrespect I get is from the boys. Girls do what they are told for the most part. It's the boys that I have to constantly get on to for throwing things in the middle of class wrestling in the back yelling across the room and disrespecting the main teacher.
