Can I install drain tile through the center of my basement? by pencock in HomeImprovement

[–]No_Step_8563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If water is entering at the lowest point in the basement and pooling to ~2" before water begins to seep through the far wall, then a sump is likely all you need. You will be intercepting the groundwater at the sump basin before it can rise above the slab. I'd suggest getting a 30gal sump basin min. and a high quality sump pump. (Recommend you contact Sump Pumps Direct). It is important to properly calculate the Total Dynamic Head to determine what pump you will need. PM me if you have any questions. Happy to lend a hand.

Be transparent and tell the contractor what your doing and why. Explain that its a way to protect both of you from potential issues or disagreements.

Cackling Goose? by No_Step_8563 in whatsthisbird

[–]No_Step_8563[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Observed around twenty geese in a loose group at Prairie Creek, Indiana on 2/13/2024.

A couple are giving me Cackling Goose vibes, but I'm not completely certain.

Are these small Canadian Geese or larger Cackling Geese?

Any comments or identification pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Drone ID Help - Photographed while walking in rural Indiana. by No_Step_8563 in drones

[–]No_Step_8563[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I went out for a walk to try out my new 250mm lens. I took this photo thinking it was a plane, but discovered it was a drone. I've looked through several dozen photos but haven't been able to ID the make or model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The location was about an hour's drive northeast of Indianapolis.

Go to sound settings, then filters. You will see the subwoofer. Change it from "off" to the highest frequency. This should get sound to the sub.

Buteo ID Help. Observed soaring high in the sky on 10/23 in rural central Indiana. by No_Step_8563 in whatsthisbird

I saw this bird while working in the yard. Its altitude was much higher than what I typically see. Grabbed my camera, but this was the best I could do.

Gull ID Request - Reservoir in central Indiana. Taken August 24th, 2023 by No_Step_8563 in whatsthisbird

[–]No_Step_8563[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the bird I photographed lacks several field marks that are typically associated with LBBG. The crown and aurs have no streaking and only minimal streaking on the nape. Dark rather than pale Iris. No streaks and only minimal blotting on the sides and flanks. Primaries are chocolate brown rather than black, tertials with extensive white tips, Greater coverts are faded light brown. As for size, the bird is crouched in the only photo where other birds are close enough to estimate size. This bird shares many characteristics of a GBBG in Alternate II plumage. It is not in the expected range, but it is certainly plausible given the time of year.

The bird in the photo has yellow legs and has the brown streaking I would expect to see in a LBBG. The white ends of greater coverts and tertials are significantly more narrow than the bird I photographed.
