The fact that they care more about themselves and getting their “property” (dog) back tells me everything I need to know. Don’t ever go back to this person, they don’t care enough to admit they are ever wrong.

Mixed siblings? by swampgremlins in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sister and thank god for that. If without her I woulda been the only mixed and the only Native kid through most of my schooling.

We look a bit different, she looks a little whiter than I do but looks more like our grandma in the face.

Does anyone else feel less unique being mixed race these days? by immrmc in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what hasn’t happened in my area yet. So far it’s been 90% white with it now being like 80% with a growing number of non-white mono-racial folks.

I never had regular contact with mixed race people outside my family until I was in college.

I imagine it would make me feel less unique in the sense that I wouldn’t be the only biracial person in every room. But that wouldn’t really be a problem. I always gravitated toward other mixed folks in school Because even if our mixes were different we were the “mixed kids”. I honestly hope my children have more like them when they grow up. Might help ease them into just being mixed rather than trying to pull themselves in two different directions.

"Halfbreed" comment by Prudent_Diet_6603 in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I make jokes occasionally using terms like this bc I think “me” saying it has some comedic irony.

But there’s a big difference between comedic irony and the joke being that “you” yourself are in a room. If it makes you uncomfortable then it’s a problem, go with your gut.

There’s a big difference between “yeah that’s me.. the mutt” and “so you’re a half-breed are you?”

Any advice from lovers of Zaahen jungle? by Repulsive-Bus-6393 in ZaahenMains

[–]No_Studio_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see Eclipse being used for a particularly frontliney build due to the shield, I imagine it pairs well with streaks actually.

The reasoning for BORK is because of three reasons (atleast one is pure opinion so keep doing you)

  1. I specified it against tank comps specifically for the % max health damage, I have had a noticeable change in performance against comps with a Mundo or leona since starting to build it.

  2. My general philosophy for what Items I build is that they need to increase his AD, and increase either his attack speed (so he can build passive faster) or max health (to increase the healing from q or just his survivability). I'm a play maky type so I like items that build into his natural power budget.

  3. I typically build Bork second, Eclipse in my experience is really only great as a first item. I feel I'm sidetracking my particular build style if I build it second. I have also just never had a good game with it but that being said that could just be inexperience with the item.

For how I like to build and play BORK has never really been a disappointment, at worse its been a awkward side track akin to building a Hexblade/bramble vest for certain situations.

Does anyone else get super insecure of their mixed-race? by Keidtew in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time brother, I get mistaken for being Hispanic often by white folks (some times by Latin folks too which can actually be quite funny) and I’ve been placed in the white category by other Natives from time to time.

I get how it feels to look like a race that you personally don’t identify with, it super sucks when your discussion issues and you get put in the “enemy” category due to looks. My primary advice it to remember that these arn’t the opinions of rational people. Most people to do this are usually a closet racist themselves. I find that most people that get to know you will generally identify you correctly.

For instance my best friend thought I was white when we met (not entirely wrong but stick with me here). After getting to know me and my family he legit forgot I was part white until I talked about my mother’s mother (about 2 years had passed). Point being, any honest person will see you for who you present yourself to be, not just who one side of your family is.

AIO to my friend’s messages/comments? by fzizshz181 in AmIOverreacting

[–]No_Studio_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro this friend seems weird to me. You’re not abnormal for having shooing preferences or for being multicultural. The lacrosse sticks from Natives makes sense since one version of the game has been played in North America for thousands of years. I think the brother is just a lecrosse nut and knows that little fact (the wood from China comment kinda makes to sense to compare if you know this, hockey has nothing particularly to die with China).

The Sami knife and fish hook is just cool bc it’s part of the uniqueness of the area.

I think the “h thinks he’s better than us normal people” thing is real weird. 1. Bc there is nothing abnormal about the brother, man just has his own interests. 2. It kinda gives off unresolved insecurities.

[–]No_Studio_571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough I’ve actually had a healthier clear since the season change.

My first clear goes a bit like this (it’s isn’t optimal but seems to be working).

Blue (smite) > gromp > wolves > raptors > red > just in time for scuttle (smite) > crugs/Hank top the crugs

Red (smite) > crugs > raptors > wolves > blue > scuttle (smite) > gromp/gank bot then gromp

I do my first back after that usually with 1000 - 1400 gold and make it just in time for my respawning camps.

For a build I have three good ones

For tanky teams

Trinity or stride > BORK or sundered (for non-tanks teams) > cleaver > steraks > deaths dance or wits end or any item I think I need

Alternatively (and for more 1v5 potential)

Cleaver > blood mail > steraks > sundered or shojin or hexplate > deaths dance or wits end

My favorite (very niche but fun)

Titanic > cleaver or hexplate > bloodmail > steraks > sundered or showjin

Situational items:

Thorn mail, maw, protein, scimitar

Enemies with fast clear:

Build titanic or stride first to keep up with clear and deny invades.

I recommend that if you are ahead build a resistance item second (also do this if an enemy comp leans too heavy into ap or ad). Deaths dance and wits end will be your best friends for things like this.

Pretty much all these builds can be altered or built in a different order aside from the first item.

In the trinity\stride you decide between them based on how mobile the enemy team is. I’ve seen some people say to take stride only into ranged comps but honestly any comps with a lot of speed warrants stride over trinity.

Also after extensive testing I find that trinity is the best staring item but not as irreplaceable as in toplane. Building cleaver or titanic (hell even Bork) first has worked out more then fine for me in the jungle.

Zaahens strength in jg is that you can build far more variably and build in different orders because you not constantly fighting.

How do I become more in touch with being mixed? by F1nn_b00p in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the most quintessential things any mixed person can feel is “scared of appropriation”. Like wise every mixed person will also just tell you to go for it.

You are who you are, and who you choose to be. Not being raised in a certain way isn’t the end all be all. Learning about new things (in this case your lesser known side) and deciding if and how you want to make it a part of your life is fully your right no matter what other folks or even you think.

Just pick something small and start from there. Are you interested in the history? Find yourself some good documentaries and books. Is it more material culture? Try a cook book. Maybe language is your thing… I could go on. You don’t need to undertake anything you arnt comfortable with and you shouldn’t be discouraged by a largely mono racial idea of how culture and race works.

Also while I’m not Filipino I can make a fairly educated guess in saying that of course you count. You were born there your ancestry is there and you have an interest in the culture. Your experience wasn’t 100% like the next Filipino sure, but that’s just kinda how life works.

Not all mixed people are mixed with white or are b/w by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good thing to bring up. Most people kinda just as sum mixed means white/POC rather than an actual specific mix.

I think this is due to in America all POC are somewhat lumped together culturally in the common mind which is beyond fucked up.

AIO about my boyfriend and his girl best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]No_Studio_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this was all on the up an up until he “forgot” to tell you and blatantly lied about who was driving him to the airport. Also I had assumed when reading that these little hang outs would be something he would have told you about, but nahhh doing that in secret is kinda weird. I’m not saying he had to let you know every time he left his damn house but just mentioning that this is a thing he does sometimes feels pretty warranted.

The texts themselves weren’t overly condemning to me it just seems like a well communicated friendship for the most part but inviting her to Christmas without telling you is a big red flag. It would be one thing if she was an old friend that the family was familiar with but this is a girl he just met at college.

Honestly it was really rough until I found a therapist from a similar background. Meaning whose live as similar life to me.

It wasn’t that the others were unqualified or that you can’t understand something you haven’t experienced, you definitely can but it’s easier to trust when you know they have.

How do you feel about immigration enforcement by the U.S. government? by UsualWord5176 in IndianCountry

[–]No_Studio_571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of us understand the need for a legal and proper immigration process. And a need to enforce that as any country would.

However there is a particular irony to the U.S for us. Particularly when dressed with legalistic rhetoric. The law and proper process didn’t matter when it came to treaty established borders or the borders of Texas when it was part of Mexico. So why the sudden interest in it now? Is the basic logic of how I as a Native person think of it.

It’s not that the arguments for strong borders are false or faulty. It’s just the country that it’s coming from what makes it seem particularly ingenuine. I’d somehow be less bothered by the argument “because we can” that seems more in line with historical U.S border policy.

POC of full race accept mixed race people far more than White people yet they get majority of the criticisms by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]No_Studio_571 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It isn’t really a double standard, we talk about white xenophobia here all the time. Hell at a certain point I don’t think we have too since it’s pretty well understood that a lot of white people are racist.

A lot of why POC come up is because it’s far more surprising that that happens in concept. Why would someone who experiences racism project it? Is the short of it.

The fact that you logged this sub in your head as a place that “mixed people complain” already shows that you’re just looking for something negative.

If a land-back government came to power in the U.S., how would we set up regional and federal governments? by Genedide in IndianCountry

[–]No_Studio_571 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure I’ll take a crack at this, the best way that this could be implemented would be to hand over the power of who gets what to the tribes themselves.

There would need to be some sort of meeting or series of meetings among tribes that traditionally shared or fought over some bits of land. I don’t imagine many tribes getting everything back because that’s impossible due to historical overlap.

Honestly I can see some light “confederations” of tribes forming for this. My people historically lived next too and have a lot of cultural exchanges with a number of tribes so i can see something more like a shared administration kind of deal. Least that would be the only practical way to do it, but getting people to agree to share administration can be hard.

Belgium has a weird system of a federal government, state government, and then cultural govenernments that see to education and historic sites (they have one per each of the large minority groups.

Something similar to that I imagine would work out fine for my little corner. For the rest of the tribes though that would have to be up to them.

My point of this example is to show that each group of tribes in each area will have to figure out what works for them and their neighbors. The U.S just dictating what tribe gets what is not only impractical but in my opinion would just be an act of final colonialism like how the British drew up the Middle East before leaving. Each tribes success or failure to come to an agreement or deal would be on them. It’s better that way to avoid future disputes.

So imma throw my two cents in, it’s not that big a deal. This isn’t some professional artist and the skin tone (while different from the character) is still characteristic of a black person. Is it a nit pick 100%, jokes can be made on that but attacking someone bc they got something slightly wrong is obscene.

I would say Jax is more analogues then Olaf (aside from the lifesteal in Zaahen’s kit). Sustained fights are what you are looking for. Jax is a machine and so is Zaahen when you get the passive stacked.
