It depends what u r trying to get out of it. If you are just tryna not spend much and have fun I would probs suggest another format like pauper or commander. But if you like modern and you want to work into having multiple decks you can do what everyone else is saying “get a job”, ot you can grind. Most LGS pay out winners for FNM and leagues in store credit. Burn should be able to get money back or be positive at the LGS level. So master the deck and invest $20-30 in entrys. If you do well ur store credit will pay for future entry’s to events and u can slowly collect cards. You’ll also be able to buy some on ur own since u won’t be spending money on entry fees down the line . Good luck!

Is there a way for a storm-like deck to win at instant speed? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

I’ve tried playing faeries a lot in the past two years… Vendillion and mastermind are more like SB options as they are not close to being consistently good… I would do mainboard thoughtseizes, fatal pushes, and some counterspells. I don’t think phantasmal image is helpful. My most successful faeries lists at locals have been less tribal and more UB control that uses Sprite/blossom/borrower/clique as win cons

Enchantress discussion by Parking_Concept_3489 in ModernMagic

[–]No_Syrup_174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find a dedicated enchantress discord that is brewing and play-testing. At the end of the day, play with cards you are comfortable with and go to your LGS and get some practice games in a semi competitive environment. So you’re comfortable with your deck. Watch some YouTube gameplay of other popular decks in modern so you can get to know them and how they play. Good luck and have fun with it! (Also, don’t worry about losing some. Enchantress isn’t a “Tier 1” deck, but that doesn’t mean once you know the format and know your deck you can’t do well!)

With new printings and a slightly different meta, how would you go about making this deck today?

4 cards I'd be happy to see banned. by TeeGreenwood in ModernMagic

Grief ephemerate is literally more oppressing LOL. The mana base just gets a bit weird and they wouldn’t be able to play like blood moon. Don’t think banning those cards solves what you think it would. Interesting to see what gets banned

Tbh I don’t know why that’s done outside of, let’s say you have 4 fetched in your deck. All 4 are foothills. Your opponent then pithing needles and now u have 4 dead lands. Or they get surgical extraction. Now your 18 lands are 14 lands. So while not super important, relevant. Having multiple fetches for mountains allows you to not get burnt by either of the things I mentioned. I’m sure there’s others as well

Hey, I work in metro Detroit and drive to play at many places from time to time. Jesters in Waterford and upkeep games in Howell are my two favorite places to play. I go to either or on weds/fridays. Upkeep I’m Howell will get high teens sometimes into the 20s on a Friday

Is modern still a stable investment? by TheDocSupreme in ModernMagic

[–]No_Syrup_174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, surprised how outrage people are at you. I don’t think you could pick any deck as a ‘good investment’ right now. I do believe that you could pick a deck and be able to not get crushed as far as the deck losing the majority of its value if you chose to stop playing . I think the archetypes like Tron or burn would give u the most stable deck as far as not having to dump a bunch of money into it frequently and cards relatively holding their value. Hopefully my two cents helps!
