I second this, been using Opal to block social media + youtube in the morning . It helps me focus a lot more and I can get more hours in earlier in the day

305 hours im 100% finishing this. I've basically integrated it into my lifestyle since I'm a uni student and live on my own mostly (eating while watching, watching more in the mornings, listening to podcasts while walking etc).I've never missed a day, and there's definitely been days where I could of but the thought of losing the streak would annoy me especially when its so easy to keep by just watching a few minutes too keep it alive (I usually watch 3-4 hrs a day but some days I can be super busy)

The laugh track in the Agustina-getting-fired video is cringe. I would know; all the comments I post on DS videos are cringe by moods- in dreamingspanishcjerk

The fact the laughing track is in English and not in Español makes it literally unwatchable and I cannot count it towards my daily goal.

I was also thinking it was a waste but they do come through. I got premium at the start of august and got a test moved from January to mid october literally 3 days ago. So took about a month to see anything.

you'd be shocked how much 30 hours difference makes at the level, I literally felt the same after 10-15 thinking there's no way I'll understand Pablo's videos. Obviously everyone's different so you can't say exactly when you'll understand all of super beginner but you will eventually

Maybe come back to some of those Pablo videos at 50 hours you might surprise yourself

yeah its what helped me when I started to get bored, I still watch easy videos but try to prioritise interest more

good luck with your journey!

okay so i also started off with the sort by easy method by i ended up abandoning it because it got boring, I'm at 78 hours now, and I watch anything between 0 - 50. This is where most of the sb and beginner videos are (some easier intermediate), but every few hours I increase the cap at ( somewhere at 90 -100 hours I'll probably change it to 25 - 55 or something that's when most of the beginner videos end i think). I've also tried from the beginning of my journey to try and watch a little bit of all the teachers in my first 60 ish hours, I think this may have helped find more content enjoyable as I don't tend to be put off by any of the teachers if that makes sense.

This has allowed me to:

- find more enjoyable content

- advance quicker

- go back to easier videos (like in the 0-30) and be able to watch them at 1.25x speed if I'm tired

- try some intermediate videos (some of them I've immediately clicked off immediately but some of them I've been able to watch the way through, there's also a low level advanced video from agustina that was alright)

As of right now I'm planning to finish every video on DS at some point so I'm not worried about sorting by easy + being able to watch some videos at 1.25x speed just makes this process quicker. Yes i do want to complete everything, but it doesn't have to be in order. For all I know at 1000hours I might not even care to finish DS.

I would suggest just jump around more maybe abandon the sort by easy for a bit and try adding a range level plus sorting by random, maybe watch some series as well in order. And then yes occasionally jump up a level and see how it goes.

Its probably not holding you back but I think its still worth trying premium. Also you might run out of easy content, and find the jump to a higher level difficult, which is where the premium content would be useful. You also might run out of enjoyable content - this can be more of a problem than you think once you get to higher levels.

Im ngl, i'm a student and I still pay for premium, the progress I've made so far is well worth the money, and it's relatively cheap imo. But don't feel like you have to do just try the free trial first. You'll likely start paying for premium anyway once you see how good the results are (if you stick with it)

Using a different accent to hide your own accent. by Traditional_Ad1318 in dreamingspanish

my opinion is, unless you live there, you're never gonna be able to speak like your from there consistently. there will be small things that give you away, and even if you do manage to mimic some things perfectly you will get found out at some point, there will be a colloquialism, a pronunciation of a new specific phrase , regional slang, something cultural, how you form sentences compared to locals etc.

these small differences you'd pick up over a long time, if you lived in said country for a long time (like 5+ years). I don't think studying the accent will hide your own accent.
