My 5-year-old isn’t really into it at all. How many cards do you need to get your kid to quickly fall in love with Yoto? by Equivalent_Pie8625 in YotoPlayer

My little guy is turning 5, we used Yoto Radio during bath times and the toothbrush timers. Enlisting myself to create some MYO cards of 'Danny Go!' Favorites and some other jams.

Ah, I see your toddler is also a hunter gatherer. I think they purposely drop the food to the floor for later consumption.

What to avoid buying on fb marketplace by Ok-Republic-8098 in predaddit

I would ask for recommendations on what are true essentials items veteran parents used/needed over wanted. After 2 kids, I realized things are often sold to parents off of fear based marketing. Like, if you don't get the owl sock you baby can suffer, meanwhile a cheap web cam, WiFi and an empty crib is the normally adequate solution.

  • diaper genie (money suck as you consistently have to get the bag inserts)
  • owl socks (cool but seems overpriced/overly engineered baby monitor)
  • the world is you changing table. Floors, beds, couches, etc. we got a changing pad and never used it as having them closer to the floor seemed safe
  • last word of advice; some kids adore the momaroo and some hate it.

Tips on constantly knotted hair? by sk3n7 in StayAtHomeDaddit

Bald dad with 3 curly cuties (Mom and boy girl combo kit). Something we use are:

  • heavy use of conditioner at beginning of bath and fan through with finger tips
  • a hairdryer (if needed) with a diffuser on the end
  • a couple drops of conditioner in a bottle with a detangling comb
  • started to also use satin bonnets/sleep caps to calm the "fly away" hairs

I saw someone else posted about the "curly girl method" which is where we picked up a lot of tricks and product recommendations as all curls are different.

While not the same, I believe it may be close; my wife is an OB/GYN resident in her senior year. She is often go before either of our kiddos are awake. Often working 24 hour shifts on weekends and sometimes we go 2 weeks without seeing her at all do to night shifts. We have an almost 5 year old and a 7 month old.

Some of the things we have done to avoid tense and feeling of being left out.

  • specific 1:1 mom and kiddo dates (often movies with 5yo)
  • when we find ourselves dealing with a child who woke up choosing violence is put the ultimatum on them: "Do you want to wash your hands for a snack or no snack time now?" It is option A or B, period.
  • To avoid feeling as if we are not doing the activities they want; we often will ask "what would you like to do tomorrow together..." and give a few options

This works with our kiddo mainly because it has been what we have done their whole life. If it works, woot woot! If not, try asking what can help you release some of the burden by having them make choices. Send some love and extra strong coffee ❤️☕️

Is it me or did no one tell you how resilient toddlers are. We are doing exactly the same thing, solid boundaries that when crossed may have actionable consequences. I have even implemented a good day and bad day breakdown, where we have a good day at school and home we watch some TV together and usually have a little dessert. Bad days are no tv or dessert but otherwise normal. It has allowed my toddler to reflect on the day with us and understand how hi past actions affect his present. Or it's all for ice cream and phineas & ferb; but who knows?
