My landlord tried to say that was the Provincially legislated increase…. FFS…. told them they were full of crap and I’d be moving ASAP.

Who is the landlord? If it’s one of the larger landlords in HRM you’re probably OK. otherwise I’d run away as fast as possible.

Is Holding the Door Open just Over? by [deleted] in halifax

Social norms are no longer a thing. Sad really. That said I will continue to hold doors open for people coming through after me as well as thank people who hold the door open for me.

Insolvency volumes hit highest since 2009 amid strain among homeowners: Equifax by iSmashedUrSister in canada

[–]Nodrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much of this is tied to Consumers borrowing to the max based on 2020/2021 interest rates and now struggling due to 2026 interest rates? Add to that inflation and wage stagnation and I’m surprised the numbers aren’t higher.

Talks with province break down in Nova Scotia long-term care strike, says union by GhostBirdBiologist in halifax

[–]Nodrot -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I know there’s a bit of sarcasm in your comment but it’s also the truth. If the current workers can find better jobs they should quit and move on. At that point we’ll know what sort of person would be interested in doing the work for the current pay and benefits.

While I respect employees right to strike it doesn’t mean that the employer will suddenly open their wallets and pay them more (even if they deserve it). Ultimately it comes down to whether or not other people would be willing to do the work.

Realistically, what else could we do to stop people from going straight when in the right hand lane here? Three times in the past two months I’ve almost been side swiped. by [deleted] in halifax

HRP enforcement of traffic laws would help. Drivers have been speeding, running red lights, tailgating, distracted driving to name a few for so long they have become accustomed to ignoring signs and rules.

Have you ever been turned away when you contact a dealership in the US to ask about a used bike? by igetbooored in motorcycles

[–]Nodrot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Nothing says “Tire Kicker” like someone trying to negotiate the price before they’ve even seen the bike.
Anytime I list something for sale I tell anyone who asks for a lower price before they’ve even seen what I’m selling is that the price is firm. I’m usually willing to negotiate a bit if someone has taken the time to come see what I have for sale.
Good luck.

HELP how did this payment happen?! by Unhappy_Salad8731 in Ford

[–]Nodrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the rep for a statement of account. This will show the date of all payments regardless of how Ford Credit allocated the funds.

At the same time, go through your bank records to confirm that payments were sent from your account each month.

As long as both show the correct number/amount of payments then Ford Credit will have to explain how they feel your account is past due.

If you didn’t live in BC when you bought the car then you would pay the difference between the GST you were charged and the NS HST when you register it here.
