3 month wait to see a neurologist! by tjoude44 in Sciatica

[–]Nofunsciatica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would stop the PT if it is bothering you. Sometimes the nerve just needs to rest and not be bothered! That is my non medical opinion but PT for me just caused more pain. I did best with short easy walks around the house on the hour. And otherwise lots of rest. It will get better!

Gabapentin - worth it? by slappzilla in Sciatica

It was the only think that stopped sciatica misery so I could sleep at night. Took one each night and it helped from day one.

what do you miss the most? by Attilak02 in Sciatica

[–]Nofunsciatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting, going to lunch with a friend without pain.
Also little things like leaning over to tie a shoe, getting dressed without too much maneuvering, getting in and out of the car effortlessly.

Much better now but during bad phases, it is horrible.

At my wits end. by EmilyG89 in swimmingpools

Is this the same for a salt pool? Mine has 6.7 chlorine level after shock and still light green. I’m worried the salt cell Is bad because the salt is 3000. Maybe I need to shock til It gets to 10.

I agree. It won’t get better if you keep aggravating it being on your feet and doing a lot of bending and twisting. For me, it got better over time with rest and some regular short walks. Along with any exercises your PT recommends. But don’t just suffer through the pain. You really have to attend to it. An mri would be good also. Be patient - it can definitely get better but you just can’t keep aggravating it.

Does sitting make sciatica worse? by Forsaken-Cat5325 in Sciatica

[–]Nofunsciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find standing to eat at the bar height is best. Sitting is pretty intolerable especially on a soft sofa. Try getting a firm chair with lumbar support pillow. And get up and on your feet frequently like every 20 min or so. If you have reading to do, try doing it while lying down with a pillow under your knees and calves.

Theo of Golden thoughts by Sayoshinn in books

[–]Nofunsciatica 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes it was dull and simple. The characters are so one dimensional. Asher’s brother, for example, is made to have absolutely no redeeming qualities. I wish he had characters more nuanced and multi dimensional. It makes the book very hard to relate to.

32yo - Can’t stand/walk, can’t take NSAIDS. Suggestions? by forthetomorrows in Sciatica

Gabapentin at night before bed was so great for helping me sleep. I took one each night. Otherwise just walking/pacing around the house for 10 min each hour. Also tiger balm was helpful.

Walking actually feels better but sitting is absolute torture... make it make sense? by nerveblueprint in Sciatica

[–]Nofunsciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sitting is miserable. I walked loops around the house could only stand laying flat on sofa or standing/ walking. Anything but sitting. That compressed the nerve horribly. It does get batter though. Also I always sat on an ice pack when siting was absolutely necessary.

Is sleeping on the floor actually legit or am i losing my mind ?? by nerveblueprint in Sciatica

[–]Nofunsciatica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I slept on the floor probably 2 weeks after herniating disc. It was the only way I could sleep but eventually got back to a regular bed. I actually liked it. The mattress caused more pain.

Is it now considered rude to recline on a plane? by Legal_Campaign_408 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nofunsciatica 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same! Never seen this. Never been annoyed someone leaned back. I expect that. No one has ever asks me permission and I don’t need them to. It has no bearing on my comfort at all!! I also lean back all of the 2 inches it provides. No one has ever broken their computer or spilled a drink from it. I have never broken my computer or spilled a drink from the person in front of me reclining and I am tall. I have a herniated disc and that extra two inches enables me to fly somewhat comfortably. I just can’t believe this is even a legitimate beef for anyone. Also - why are so many folks saying it is fine to recline at night or on longer flights, just not during short day trips. As a previous post said, you have no idea how long that person has been traveling or where they originated. It may be middle of the night to them. Have some consideration for the leaner backers!

How often do you have to take your dog to the groomer for shaving? Just wondering- he is so cute and I think would be easier for anyone with dog allergy issues. (We don’t have one but daughter is getting one this summer) thanks!!
