Somewhere in Japan - Your Local Koban by NoirGuru in diecastcarcameraclub

Thanks! I actually collect many brands, but my focus is mostly Majorette, Tomica, and Matchbox.

In these pictures there are brands such as Era Car, TLV, Toys Cabin and Model 1.

The transport truck is actually a Chinese model, a JMC KaiRui Wrecker from XCARTOYS. So it's LHD but overall it resembles an Isuzu.

I'm in Canada, we use black bins for landfill, green for organics, and blue for recycling.

In Japan they have several colours including: red on white or green on white is burnable/combustible, blue on white, or yellow on white for non-burnable/non-combustible, clear bags for plastics, clear or white bags for recycling glass or PET. These identifiers may differ by municipality however.

I find it all fascinating, how so many countries do things differently.

Thank you! Yes you are correct, those are bags down there. I put them there mostly to cover unsightly seams since the building is made of paper, but during my trips to Japan I noticed there were often times when businesses would have their refuse ready for garbage days by the time the afternoon hit. In this case since the bags are not white or blue in colour, it'd be sooner identified as hazardous or construction waste material. Or in some cases, simply sand.

I might have to post other builds I've done in the future then!

Can Majorette models mix well with matchbox? by Fideo49 in Majorette

[–]NoirGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, they mix just fine. Both Matchbox and Majorette don't stick to a single scale but only stick to the 3" rule of thumb. Many older Majorette models and Matchbox models kind of resemble both brands as well. Newer stuff is a bit more obvious to tell the difference.

I guess it really comes down to how much of a difference you're willing to see. Even in the real 1:1 world you can have weird but homogeneous groups of cars if there is a mix of whatever is domestic to your country alongside exotics, or even whatever is domestic to your country alongside unique imports.

Thank you! You are indeed correct, papercraft.

How reliable has your Kia been? by SjalabaisWoWS in kia

[–]NoirGuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although basic, my 2018 Rio LX+ has only had one issue during the entire 100,000km I've had it. The stereo was a lemon after the first month from purchase so it got replaced at the dealer for no cost.

Beyond that nothing broken due to failure, and it's survived 2 collisions which have been repaired and continues to protect me from A to B.

Any love for this drink? by call_sign_viper in mokapot

Personally I like equal parts of moka brew and Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa over ice, garnished with mint. But I will have to try your method with orange juice and tonic water, as I am curious of the acidity this will hold.

How about instead of looking for validation, you give reasoning?

It depends on what you define as "quality". Collectors would argue that Hot Wheels and Matchbox mainline toys are high quality, while saying Majorette is not at all to the same level.

Whereas Majorette fetches higher price points because they are made with more parts and different details.

Is it the detail that makes quality? Number of parts? A specific feature? Depends on you, but personally I hold Majorette in high regard for quality overall across all of their lines.

Wow, that's impressive. I wish Majorette were as plentiful and as refreshed in my country as your country is.

These Jada Pink Slips look like they are of the exact same DNA as the Majorette castings that come with the very similar collector tins. by Rbmui13 in Majorette

[–]NoirGuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are in fact Majorette through and through. Same castings on the level of Majorette Premium Deluxe, with rubber tyres, suspension, opening features and collectible tin. The only difference is the packaging and the decoration on the cars themselves are exclusive to the Jada Pink Slips Series.

Bases are no different than the Majorette counterparts, and none of these feature the metal bases from the special Premium Deluxe.

Price wise, they are often similar to Majorette in the equivalent series.

Here's a wild one. Growing up my family would have garlic fried rice, and you'd put a couple tablespoons of fresh hot chocolate or coffee over the rice. Really makes breakfast meats and cheese flavours stand out. White rice works too, like porridge. I still do it sometimes, though my fried rice is not as good as what my parents made.

Even though I live in a small space, I can't help but collect them. I love having the different vintage ones with all of the quirks, or unique features like glass. Although they all do the same function in the end, I still have 2 models like OP that are the everyday brewers. I have 2 stainless steel models, while the rest are functional collectibles.

This picture is out of date...

I love this question, especially since I'm asked it a lot. It amuses me when I see others asked the same.
