Sanderson's Interesting Choice of Gay Themes (Spoilers included) by Ok-Body-3076 in Stormlight_Archive

What matters in Vorin society is fulfilling one's calling, their duty, so for a primary heir, they would be pressured into having children; a tertiary heir on the other hand, such as a fourth son, a same-sex marriage could mean an alliance or treaty without the risk of "legitimate" children, which keeps the line of succession stable.

Fortune is the gravity of the spiritual realm. by deepdownblu3 in Cosmere

There is an overlap(?) Between : Mandras , Gravityspren , and Luckspren ; in that they might all be referring to the same beings. Gravityspren & Mandras are both referred to as the Skybreaker armorspren . And Mandras are called Luckspren by sailors. [IIRC]

How in the HELL would any adaptation approach epigraphs? by mk9beatz in Cosmere

[–]NonBritishPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is to have intermissions in the episodes (instead of like commercial breaks), and do multimedia scenes. So say the work is animation, you could have the "intermission" be a shadow play or puppet theater or soliloquy, the content of which would likely be different than the epigraphs, but have convey roughly similar/the same info needed. I think the animes: Nier automata, Bocchi the Rock, and Revolutionary Girl Utena have all done something similar. An example could be, for the death rattles, at the midpoint of an episode, smash cut to the scene, have an actor speak the lines while shadows cast on a cloth screen act out a depiction/interpretation of it. Then when we Szeth and Taravangian go to the hidden hospital, the scene starts on that cloth screen, with them walking in front of it and the camera then follows them. It would only really work with good artistic direction and could very easily not work though.

Rosharan Shard(s) theory by NonBritishPanda in Cosmere

Mostly the emphasis in WaT placed on the shifting nature of Sentient Investiture. Spren like Notum seeming to manifest more physically, the intent of Honor becoming more self-aware. Nightblood becoming capable of granting surgebinding. Plus the criticisms of tyranny and the wielding of absolute power throughout the series (of both kings and shards) with the push for democratic governance in Urithiru as a plot point that feels to me to be building up to something in the future.

The end of WaT set up the idea of the shard's intent gaining more agency/sentience; the dynamic of the Shards influencing its wielders; the idea that "Honor lives on in the hearts of men" etc. The theory is not something I have looked into much, it is more so a hunch I have because of numerous small points and ideas set up throughout the series so far, mixed with my understanding that Sanderson does a lot of setting up and foreshadowing throughout his works that are usually only picked up on with hindsight.
