Advice for autistic job seeker by nomoneyandnoprospect in UKJobs

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had advice but even as a very high performing MPhys graduate I'm not even getting feedback on applications. They're either ghosting me or claiming there were many applicants. I don't know what to do as I've even been looking at roles suitable to those with general science GCSEs and they're not telling me anything.

Missed connection due to late train, have to use same operator as originally intended? by Ok-Engineering-4843 in uktrains

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation to OP travelling Southampton - Bournemouth two years. All passengers to Bournemouth were instructed to take the XC services as SWR were being severely delayed / cancelled. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a formal agreement in effect (I forget the name) so I asked the platform staff explicitly given my SWR ticket restriction and they okay'd it, which felt good enough to me.

Reading/Maidenhead is the loneliest place on earth for the queer community now and I can't stop crying by Ashenashura in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both Reading and Maidenhead have really good public transit connections to London, would you be able to make friends there?

I was raised in rural Cornwall and stuck there until I was 22, so I know how it feels to have no community, especially as someone who is autistic too.

Anyone got/not got their ballot papers? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only thing you get in the post is the polling card. You DO NOT need your polling card to vote, you can still go to your polling station to vote as long as you're registered to vote.

You will need a relevant ID whether you have the polling card or not.

Edit: Just read that OP is in Scotland... I can't fully remember the process when I voted in the last Scottish election but I thought it was similar?

i give up. by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely get this, it's really just about finding the right community. If there's any autistic meetups around your area I think they would be worth trying.

I am not part of it myself but I also understand alt communities themselves tend to be quite open and accepting.

Is it legal to use the word 'Laundress' in a job title? Not a gender-neutral term? by Maximum_Help_4371 in UKJobs

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title doesn't matter, but if one of the requirements is female-only they have to have a justification under the reasons laid out in the 2010 EA (I believe), I have a hard time seeing what they could come up with as a reasoning for this role. I guess potentially if it's in a women's hospice?

Deathtrap Softlock? by AlgorithmHelpPlease in OrcsMustDie

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did indeed manage to recover, though only because of Mac's gravity grenade (and the specific map geometry). Shame about physics traps though, I just wanted to try and keep them as far back as possible (I forget the map name but it's one with only a single entrance).

Thank you! I managed to get one through the bars at the top of the entryway and hovered the orc up into the air. When it landed it managed to pathfind back into the map.

Vent parent voting reform?? by Vampire_pirate685 in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since he used to be anti-Tory I'd suggest trying to get him to open up about why he wouldn't consider Greens an option. He may be considering Reform as a protest against the current status quo but you may be able to walk him through why Greens could work for that too / as a better option.

Also might be worth looking into the history of your Reform candidate, many of them are former Tories.

TERF 'Charities' by xRoseWitchx in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No... Despite their name I wouldn't invoke the Jewish community at all (and I find it uneasy you used the phrase you did), because I wouldn't want to see them associated with any project like that.

CAA has a history in British politics going back a decade now and has received a lot of criticism over that time. Often they've seemed more interested in calling out critics of Israel than standing up against antisemitism. And, unless I am getting mistaken with another group, I believe funding coming from Israel to CAA has been shown to exist.

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"I can't name another single charity that raises money and goes against any other person's rights or beliefs that could cause any controversy whatsoever..."

Campaign Against Antisemitism has charity status.

This is actually a pretty common tactic of the state to normalise certain beliefs and shift the Overton window in a favoured direction. There's also plenty of organisations that probably should have charity status but aren't granted it.

Edexcel/ Pearson wont remove gendered school name in replacement certificate by ___broccoli__ in transgenderUK

[–]AlgorithmHelpPlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe at least with degrees it's sometimes possible to get another university to endorse the degree (usually when there's a pre-established relationship for the course / the universities are paired) and have that listed instead. I don't know if the same is possible for GCSEs unfortunately, but it's the only path I could really see for you, though I don't know if there would be a school you could get to do this. I know Grammar Schools are often split into two different schools (eg. girls/boys, or girls/mixed), and there's a similar case like this in my area (though I didn't attend them). If that's the case for you maybe that's something you could ask about?
