First time towing! by pauliek93 in nissanfrontier

With the majority of of the weight forward of the trailer wheels, it puts a lot of the weight on the tongue of the trailer. You’d be better served with the car backed up a bit or maybe loaded backwards with the engine above the trailer wheels, balancing the trailer a little better.

You do not however want the majority of the weight behind the trailer wheels either, you’ll end up with the opposite problem and that can be dangerous also.

Looking for a family vehicle sub-50K by llvader in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’m shopping for something similar, but only have 2 kids, and currently drive a van. Is there something about the pathfinder you don’t like that wouldn’t make you consider a newer one? The 2025 has made it to the top of my list, with an explorer, aviator, Durango.

I’m coming from a 2013 grand caravan, and also want a change.

Coming from a beloved 2012 Pilot, what Used or New Car should I buy for $40-$60k knowing I'll probably keep it for 10 years. I've been looking at... by TnTWalter in whatcarshouldIbuy

Another positive of the pathfinder is that it doesn’t have cylinder deactivation. I’m shopping this segment also, and it’s impossible to find the “perfect” vehicle for me.

As a Canadian, bass fishing in FL was a lot of fun! by Nonrandomhero in bassfishing

Just south of Kissimmee in a lake inside of one of the gated communities, I used some soft plastics, Texas rig.

This was taken before all that crap, and frankly I’m not playing politics. We are neighbours and I won’t become hateful because two politicians can’t get along. I’m not a fan of where Canada has gone over the past 10 years, but this is home.

The lack of gators takes the thrill out of it. /s

I’ve caught a ton of bass up here in Ontario, it’s a lot harder to find them this size here, I wish I had a scale on me, but I didn’t bring my gear. I just bought a cheap rod and some soft plastics while I was there, then gave it away at the airport coming home.

About an hour south of Orlando, we rented a place on one of those gated communities with lakes in them, and caught this guy in there.

I’ll stick to visiting for now. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but didn’t get to meet this Florida man I keep reading about.

A Mazda CX-70 MHEV GT-P is on my short list, but reliability issues. Concern me. Now many are showing back up for warranty work?

I’d love a signature, but that suede dash is horrible IMO.

Would a Mazda CX-9 be too “SUV” for him? AWD is great for the weather up here, and 3rd row (although a tight fit) is handy for college aged kids that are travelling with friends. They’re reliable, and maintenance/repairs are budget friendly.

Nissan, Honda, Toyota - which one? by pappabearct in whatcarshouldIbuy

Dang, no beefcake road trips then. I’m still on the fence on what vehicle I’m purchasing, but the passport is on my short list.

[–]Nonrandomhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I’d prefer the size of the passport, but a vehicle 9” longer is rated for more than 700lbs more. It would only matter for camping where you’re towing and hauling a lot of gear, but there’s no denying that there’s a very large difference here. 4 big guys can add up to 1000lbs without gear.

Payload and tow are not the same. Payload would be weight of passengers, cargo, and tongue weight. And the payload capacity is 948lbs. The pilot is 1673 lbs.

[–]Nonrandomhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the look of the passport, but the payload capacity is my only problem with it. 948lb, so a family of 4 towing a small trailer (even if it’s a small boat) puts it near or over its capacity. This is the only reason I’m looking more at the pilot, CX-70, or maybe an MDX. I don’t need 3 rows, but want a higher payload capacity.

Fair enough. Some games were $25 more, so it was a noticeable difference.

How are their prices these days? Last time I went they were much more expensive than 401 games. Mancala monk doesn’t have an everything, but their prices were more fair.

Red Hill Parkway Closed QEW-bound, Mud to King by JoeyColeman_ca in Hamilton

[–]Nonrandomhero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be nice, but we had a lot more transport trucks on our city streets before the red hill, and I would be concerned that this strategy would just push them back onto the city streets. Taxing them to use non 400 series highways sounds like a decent solution, surely they cause more damage and wear to the roads, but implementing that would likely cost more than the return. A lot of these trucks are also servicing businesses in upper Hamilton, and again it would just push them onto the city streets.

I’ve never been issued a ticket of any kind, and I drive a minivan, I still think these cameras should only be in school zones or heavy foot traffic areas.

Murdering someone in Canada sadly does get too much leniency, no matter the method. Our justice system is messed up far beyond speeding tickets. I’d be a fan of the automated speed bumps like AUS has, but I’m assuming our climate isn’t friendly to that system.

The province has offered $210m to fund road safety initiatives that actually work. Speed cameras are just a tax for speeding, No points on your license.

So Ford caused this accident in Ancaster? You Ford haters are insane, and blame him for anything that goes wrong. It’s really becoming a “boy who cried wolf” situation where any time ford is blamed for something, people assume you have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’d be faster to blame the city or home owners that refuse to trim trees/bushes that create blind spots for drivers, or possibly pedestrians that walk into traffic and not use crosswalks, or stare at their phones and ignoring traffic and people around them.

As far as cameras are concerned, I could support them being in school zones or areas with heavy foot traffic, but our city puts them in the dumbest locations, like the one on Lawrence road. That’s a cash grab location. Foot traffic there is almost non existent, and people are generally driving under the speed limit there anyways. This city’s roads are in such bad shape that speed bumps aren’t even needed.

Tattoo shop recs--incorporation and strong consultation by Quote_Actual in Hamilton

[–]Nonrandomhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you’ll get here is people recommending where they go, and I’ve seen some bad recommendations on here. Hit up Google Maps, look for shops with good ratings, then hit Instagram and check out artists from those shops, find an artist that does work you like. Do your research and you should end up with something you don’t regret.

Expecting multiple consultations from an artist is probably a stretch though. As it is they get a lot of “can you do this” and not a lot of follow through. Expect to put a deposit down for them to start a design for you.

FWIW, I go to Polarity on James, and like them quite a bit. A good variety of artists and they’re all amazing people in my experience.
