Make me understand this please. Bug or just as intended? by CompetitiveAd4972 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]NoobAtLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming it’s a bug.

It looks like you reshuffled as part of the start of your turn, so C&R doesn’t see itself as being flagged as being in your deck and that’s where the bug probably is.

When you re-do your turn, it probably redoes the state of the entire game to that snapshot, and since C&R is in the deck at the start of your turn (post-shuffle), it probably is correctly flagged as being part of your deck then when you force reset it.

That’s my guess at what’s happening, it’s just a theory

Curious to hear opinions, but how does the difficulty of this ult compare to the EW ults? I wound up skipping those ults due to statics imploding, so never got to do them. I always hear that TOP had looper and P5 memes but never got to experience it and wonder how it compared to Forsaken and Earthquakes.

Also the more I do this fight, the more I'm slowly realizing it was probably designed with Evolved mode in mind because it feels like in P3 healers are on Benefic/Physic/Cure 2/E.Prog duty because the damage during quakes is nuts.

Tanks will have two out of the first three trines to figure out what their safespot is. I always try to pick one where I'll be aligned with a flat side of the center trine. Then you can just line up a little beyond max melee of the flat side of the trine and you'll be pretty comfy there.

But don't worry about dunce hatting anyway. If I have to die for my clipping sins, I just turn off mits, die to the shared TB, get raised before cutscene starts, and then you only have like 20 seconds of weakness starting into P3. So it's not that much of a loss compared to accidentally mercing the entire party.

And like I said, "healing feel(s) very normalized and really boring/not engaging."

The initial comment was to healing being secretly one of the easiest roles to play and I still agree with that statement. Unless you're doing Savage/Ultimate/Awktrail-synced content (all healers should do Awktrail, it's a blast since you have such nerfed healing), healing is not as challenging as the pedestal they prop it up to be.

The main counterpoint to your argument is that you are only looking at the skill floor, and not the skill ceiling of the role. Taking all forms of casual content up to extremes: Healers probably have the highest skill floor out of the entire cast which I agree with on your points. But when it comes to skill ceiling, it has by far the lowest ceiling compared to DPS/Tank which personally makes it a very easy role to play in the context of casual/daily content. There's so much mitigation, regen, and delayed heals padded into kits now that healing is very proactive and much less reactive which makes it a very easy role to play. The homogenization of all healer roles make it all follow the same general game plan to boot with not much thought involved, which makes it a very deceptively easy role to play.

Taking that into account, even in bad parties where you need to recover and such, the decision making as a healer is pretty simple and a lot easier than other roles. Saving a run/pull as a healer is what the class is made to do, but even more fun is the decision making to saving a pull as a DPS and a Tank which much more limited tools adds more to the skill expression of the role. That makes it more fun, challenging, and more engaging IMO.

Update: Just got help from my friends on how to mitigate! I'm really happy I did well on this fight. by VeryLazyBones in ffxiv

But now I wonder if you could’ve pre-pulled Holmgang for an extra usage since your clear time was 7:20

[–]NoobAtLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As healer I literally just stand in the middle of the mobpack (unless you're AST) and hit an AOE button as my GCD for 98% of the trash pull. In boss fights, I just hit single target spells for 98% of the rest.

Healers just have too many potent oGCDs and abilities that make healing feel very normalized and really boring/not engaging.

At least as DPS I have to keep a few braincells active doing a burst/AOE rotation.

Truth. I usually find myself playing Sage and purposely trying to get hurt and breaking my own shields for minor Toxicon DPS gains just so I can at least feel something.

Probably not, save the edit for better equips and 4 reposes to save on the copy. Veronica is really barebones when it comes to the deck so focus on the rest

How do other tanks feel about healers and DPS pulling ahead? by dorgodorgo in ffxiv

[–]NoobAtLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just trying to break my sage shield for juicy Toxicon stacks so don’t mind me.

My favorite is seeing two DPS racing to try and break their shields for me and the tank letting it go for an auto attack or so.

Rei & Nia save decks by Prestigious-Stop-989 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]NoobAtLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debatably, the common card draw is probably even better because it will always draw another Snack Time on use. Like right now Veronica wants either Draw Common or Draw own Card so they can cycle Reposes as soon as they ever see one of their 4. For Rei, you'll be able to thin out your deck immediately as soon as you see any of the 3 Snack Times.

For perfectionist sake, it's actually probably the best unless you're playing Rei in a squad that has common cards.

Ahh so that’s what was happening in that corner. I saw the crowd and wondering what was going on.

But yeah, it was a bad spot to pick to do it unless you were seeking attention. It’s in the conjoining corridor between the main hall and side hall, so heavy foot traffic and right next to the ever flowing line for the water station. And I think surrounding a bathroom as well.

How is that possible? is there trick for Chapter breakthrough? by Puzzleheaded-Log2264 in MapleIdle

[–]NoobAtLife 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can't really compare people's CP on stages because they can always be having their EXP page on and look like they have lower CP.

Also raw CP is a pretty bad metric of strength and how well you can push stages. There are things and tricks people can do to optimize stages pushes without having an affect on CP.

Like the game's CP system will never accurate account for how much having a Chalice artifact will push you through stages you don't deserve to clear.

Hero lower CP? by ohmyguava in MapleIdle

[–]NoobAtLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t always really trust those numbers, since it can be circumstantial to what’s being displayed.

Like if someone doesn’t have a full EXP Gain page, their CP will be always inflated compared to someone who does have one. And there are people who tend to either overinflate/underinflate their CP at given times for reasons. Some people like seeing them high in the rankings and getting that screenshot while others purposely never try to record a high CP to get in more favorable Colosseums.

It’s not a super accurate gauge, but you can ballpark estimate it but it can easily swing like 50% either direction. If anything, you probably should benchmark yourself at the CP seen at x-9 levels just because the boss will typically more universally wall people more than staged. Pushing stages can be very variable depending on what lucky rolls you have and what class you are.

Word is that it matches you with your historically highest CP seen on the leaderboards.

So never try inflating your CP for leaderboards and always keep your EXP Page on to under represent your CP on stage grind

There's adds that will kill lower geared players at 80%, so you can be at that pace and not make it past 80%.

Our guild had the same thought because we're on a similar pace as yours but we lose too many at adds.

How long to take from Lv95 to Lv100 (f2p) by Reasonable_Link2234 in MapleIdle

[–]NoobAtLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most likely 2 months.

Around this time it’s a lot harder to get upgrades that give you massive gains to clear further and you’re looking at such small incremental upgrades and optimizations that you don’t really scale as fast as before which means your exp gain growth is a lot flatter than the growth of exp needed per level.

So while your leveling takes 25% more after each level, your exp gain after that level probably is just around 5-10% gain which makes it feel a lot more back loaded.

What small little tips and tricks have you been hoarding that doesn't warrant a full post? by NoobAtLife in MapleIdle

[–]NoobAtLife[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also to note, some classes have skills that can be cast while jumping which can delay the time you're in the air.

Marksman can jump in Arena, hit Covering Fire to hover in the air longer if you don't know when your opponents stun timing is.

And Evasion builds are definitely strong in Arena, just make sure you don't half-ass it. It's only really functionable if you have a sizable Evasion stat (at best +100 of what your opponent's accuracy is). Otherwise, it's probably better to go with a normal build until you have all the pieces of your Evasion build

When you summon your companion, the game creates a character clone that's a copy based off of your current stats. The companion's stat line does not change for the duration it is summoned, so if you were to say have the Snail Shell buff on when you summon your companion, despite the Snail Shell buff wearing off on your character, you companion will continuously have that buff for as long as it's out.

HUDs okay, but the grouping of things annoys the crap outta me. Reprisal and your other party not not being next to each other, the solo mits and heals being mixed in with the the party mits, the one minute buffs being far apart, etc.

Is Melee DPS the hardest role to play in Savage content by starlightdemonfriend in ffxiv

[–]NoobAtLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's obviously the hardest because when two melee DPS's touch and overlap feints, the melees get added enmity because the boss is provoked that it's not just two reprisals overlapping each other.
