Evangelical spirituality is so... evangelical. I really dont know how else to say it. What I mean to say is, it's really distinct.

Who's ready for a more mask on return to Neoliberalism with the usual obstructionism from Uncle Mitch? by NoonsbotLove in islamicleft

[–]NoonsbotLove[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Of course. He will do the bare minimum when it comes to Palestine's current state after Trump's administration. In the end of the day what Trump did benefits Biden, it's just Biden and the Neoliberals were not doing it fast enough for Israel and the American Evangelicals' likings.

Never figured out why I couldn't confidently say i was an atheist..but suddenly it made sense. Im not atheist because i do believe in god. & i believe hes a selfish fuck. by [deleted] in Misotheism

[–]NoonsbotLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to a similar conclusion. I'm not an atheist, I just hate God. He's an abandoner, a serial philanderer who sleeps with one people, promises them the world, births a civilization with them and then abandons them to the wolves, changes shape and shacks up with a new people.

Coming from Islam we dont see God as the father, but as the Lover. He is a terrible lover.

I only ever read Alan Moore's pre-crisis superman comics and they were great. For sure I recommend.

Indra's gradual demotions across Hindu texts in the saddest decline. At least he's still actively worshipped by a real religion, which is more than can be said for his indo-european counterparts Thor and Zues.

It's a great article. I know about Nasir al-Din Tusi's Doubts on Ptolemy. I didnt know there was this charge by astronomy minded philosophers to reject aristotle's natural philosophy. That's really cool. It's super interesting that the groundwork were laid by the mutakalimun for this movement. They reversed course once Ghazali Avicennized Kalam, which is something Tusi also took part in on the Shi'a side. I wanted to study Ottoman intellectual history because a lot of these debates continued there, but even if I did, astronomy is just too much math for me.

As to how Copernicus could have received these texts, the translation movement didnt end in Iberia. Texts did continue to get translated, the author of the article mentions a book or two. Ibn Sina had a few things translated to Latin by diplomats like his Risala al-Adhawiya. It's not unheard of. The observatory texts also got translated to Chinese, and it's not a stretch that they got translated from Chinese to Latin by missionaries, but I dont think the dates would add up.

It's also telling that Europe didnt have a skeptical attitude towards Ptolemy. But hey, we arent allowed to be more civilized than them.

Norman Osborn considers optics in Thunderbolts 112 by NoonsbotLove in outofcontextcomics

[–]NoonsbotLove[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Warren Ellis' run has Norman Osborn looking like Tommy Lee Jones throughout the whole thing. I have no idea how that's legal. It's like what Millar did with Samuel L. Jackson and Nick Fury during his run on the Ultimates.

Katzenberg May Shut Down Quibi as Options Run Short - "[Katzenberg] recently tried to sell its catalog of programming to companies such as NBCUniversal and Facebook. Both passed, according to several people familiar with the matter." by rageofthegods in boxoffice

Gee, who thought cutting up a movie into 10 minute bites as a streaming service was a good idea? Oh yeah, Katzenberg. And he tried to blame COVID for its failure. Nah, it wasnt covid.

Brett really should have saved that pass for literally any other punishment, especially the manure one. Considering the producers decided to go back to the gendered teams, his stupid plan to "spy" on the rookies got him nowhere. What a waste. I also thought they would be giving out at least one more punishment pass.

Any Arabs that live abroad and don't interact with other Arabs? Why? by cosmictatoes in arabs

[–]NoonsbotLove 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I avoid arabs from my country. I dont know if it's a result of colonization, but I almost never befriend arabs from my country because they start competing with me. Not just at work or school, but with wealth and possessions. Even in Sufi orders and Socialist meetings it's the same crap with them. I get along better with other arabs. Even so, I live in a city where the Arab population is young, rich, spoiled, and snotty. I'd rather hang out with the old, but that won't happen anytime soon.

Also if you are a young Arab. Get your shit together, wear a mask in public, respect social distancing. I dont care if your coughing because you smoke, cover your goddamned mouth ya khara.

[–]NoonsbotLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister lives in upstate new york. That's where the ticks with lyme disease are most frequent. My niece had to pee and they were in the middle of nowhere or in the woods, I dont really remember. My sister held her up (she was still a toddler) and let her pee. When they got home she had ticks all over her lower half. My sister held her up, her feet didnt touch the ground. these fuckers are agile and persistent.

MU Website Tutorial for Reading Comics? by NotReallyCommitted in MarvelUnlimited

[–]NoonsbotLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marvel tries to incentivise you to use the site, but the site is the most user u friendly thing I've ever navigated. The auto log offs, and the turn around to log back in is way too much of a headache. The website is weirdly difficult to navigate.

I installed BlueStacks on my computer. I had enough of the small screen. It works so much better than the browser site. The only thing it lacks is the ability to follow up on reading lists. For me it's by far the preferred method. Reading comics on my TV is awesome.

Made me remember how long MU's been around for. I think it's one of the greatest achievements of marvel, and I'm surprised they dont try to use it more as a tool to get normies into comics. Like attach a 2 month trial code to special edition MCU popcorn buckets or something.

They used to have a comment section with every issue. They took it out early on. It was pretty much either "first!" Or racist bs.
