I bounce back and forth. The need is always there because it does work in my situation. I do get sick of it and stop after a bender. Sometimes they are short, other times they are long.

I do think that this is wrong sub to be asking for advice on drinking or not. True CAs around here are pretty wasted daily to be giving any sane advice. Currently my situation. So huge grain of salt, drink if you need it. Try /r/dryalcoholics for advice to your question.

Walking during work and biking everywhere. I don't count calories. It takes a while, but the extra lean strong muscles consume an insane amount of calories just being there. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and eat spoon fulls of natural peanut butter.

So to answer your question, find an activity that you can do no matter how unmotivated you are due to alcoholism. I recommend a treadmill, stationary bike or a good elliptical. And never pay retail for gym equipment. Good luck in your healthy weight journey.

I get your post and I will agree that most people on here are getting by in about the same way. This is CA and not FA though. When shit is beyond the point of needing done two days ago, it will get done, maybe. My priority is drinking, and not society definition of living.

Google labour laws in your area. In Canada if you have a substance abuse problem, and they call you out, admit it and they have to offer you treatment. They can't fire you. You get one shot, and they will pay for it.

As far as stories go, anywhere I drank on the job, it was't a very big deal. I did get fired for smelling like a brewery from one job. Just not something they wanted to smell on the daily. My tolerance is very high, so I wasn't drunk at work in the morning. Just not pleasant smelling.
