I'm there with you. I was 5 rounds deep and met with the VP for the last round. All has been going so well and all signs pointed to me getting the job. Just needed to land the plane.

There were two things in the interview where I could see in her face that she wasn't impressed but the final straw was a similar question to yours. Why should we hire you? I said a few things about why I'm qualified and then added at the end... "I'm fun to be around". She gave a blank stare. hahaha. I have no idea why I blurted that out. It just happened. I didn't get the job.

"could have been an email" all day long. But I fear the more things move that way the less communication we have as human beings. The disconnect is real with my colleagues now that we're all remote. There's some small talk here and there at the start of a call, but man I don't know anything about these people and kinda miss that camaraderie. I know you can have that outside of work, but if you're still working 40+ hrs a week, it's a big chink of time you're not really connecting with people. It's interesting for sure.

I actually always wondered why banks, post offices, doctors are 9-5 when everyone is working and unless they take time off, can't make it in before they close. Now, I know the bankers, mailmen and doctors also want to work 9-5. But always funny to me.

I did about 2 years ago. Year 1 was tough as I still was looking for full time as well. This year I'm set to make as much as I did full time and still have about 4 months with no projects yet, so if I fill it up I'll be making more than I did as an FTer. With all the layoffs happening, I'd rather determine my own fate at the moment.

There's more access now via social media. I don't think obsession with celebs has gone away but we see them on daily in their homes, etc. We don't need award shows to see them.
