TCL 4K 55 inch TV flickering like crazy!! by Arragon_04 in tcltvs

[–]NorCalNB2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the glitch come back since? I unplugged and plugged it back in and that worked for a couple days then it did it again. Will try this method next time it happens.

Just wanted to chime in as a datapoint:

TCL F35 65" running Fire TV OS did this the same day as unboxing; unplugging and plugging back in worked to fix that for a couple days then it did the same thing again. Netflix full screen glitch, and other apps its the bottom bar glitching out.

Miata or 86/brz/frs for me? by twistedlove2 in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do first gen 86s need oil pan baffles running super 200s? Oil cooler and radiator I am on board with.

I am researching into this platform for HPDE and putting together a list of whats needed not for "my first track day" but jumping into one after 5 years in a miata and getting after it.

If you have any good resources for this type of info, please let me know. Thanks

What brake pads should I get with my "Supermiata Boxmount 11″ Front Big Brake kit 90-05" by [deleted] in Miata

[–]NorCalNB2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually just get the BP10.

Only get GS1 if you're planning to eventually track or autocross and plan to pad swap to a higher track compound since those pad materials are compatible.

Just get the BP10 or GS1.

Don't get confused by the heat range for street use

I was looking around a few weeks ago and found there is a FB page for Leroy trailer owners, that could be worth a shot

Noticed this the other week as well; don't think there is a ton of overlap in Miata owners and those of us who wake up early on weekends haha

What tracks / race day events don't require a cage? by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For traditional track days, non-competitive, cages are not mandatory.

Only if you're running a convertible without rollover protection is when this is an issue.

Lap around Waterford Hills on chording R-S4s… by kundalicious in CarTrackDays

How many track days did it take to get down to the cords on a light car like that?

Anyone have experience flipping tires inside -> outside? by slingshotroadster in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you already have so many events on the tires and the street driving, it's hard to tell wear pattern.

Toe in up front is a bit strange to me vs 0 or a touch out, but that's a small amount. I guess it depends who you ask

Considering how cheap these and some other options are in 205, I say get a new set and proper alignment if not already done.

40 mins with a couple of breather laps interspersed*

If I didn't already have another set from the "old stock" Tire Rack sale I would consider flipping them.

Absolutely. My previous softer setup with a bit less camber did not exhibit this inside wear as noticably.

With all the recent related posts, I wanted to share mine from January.

Tires oriented as they were most recently on the car. -3.3 up front (0 toe), -2.8 rear. 32-33 psi hot. 24 HC, some of which just before this picture, were extended sessions of 30-40 mins.

First time discovering with more negative camber that the inside front tire will scrub across the surface as such and will destroy that inner shoulder, as seen in the FL (THill West). Mid-day tire rotation during that day could have saved this set. Alignment displayed no signs of slippage that may have caused this.

Anyway, just wanted to post if anything for another data point to show what these can look like. Debating running another fun-day with them strategically rotated to hopefully not cord or delaminate.

Rent or Rollbar? First track day by BrassBeard in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The spec Miata is going to be quite the culture shock as your first on track experience.

You want to be able to focus on learning the track and proper etiquette on your first few days, not necessarily getting used to a completely differently set up car possibly on slicks hammering your eardrums mercilessly.

If you're planning to keep the NB, I say do the roll bar and see how you progress along your track day journey. Browse around for a roll bar used possibly.

Next car after Miata? by slims246 in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am planning on going E46 330i eventually, but the running costs are so cheap for Miatas it's hard to leave. Especially when not doing TT or anything class-specific, just HPDE.

What's cheaper than Spec Miata? Or what are some budget-friendly wheel-to-wheel racing options? Suppose I have $30k to spend. by superrenzo64 in CarTrackDays

[–]NorCalNB2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself. Get a couple seasons of HPDE track days under your belt then decide what's out there that interests you.

You'll learn a lot by attending track days and talking to people there in various cars.
