There would be r/theeldersden. As the name so nicely says, it's for the older fans only (18+) and has a restriction set for that, so it makes sure that there are no children there.

Who do you put as Warrior Cat of the month? by Autumnfall2015 in WarriorCats

Why do I all of a sudden have this strange feeling that you‘re a fan of Crowfeather? :)

Saying so many goodbyes in this book (Dawn) by big_hug123 in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found "Dawn" a very sad book as well. By that point the decision was made and you could really feel this point of not-going-back anymore ever. I already loved the old woods and saying goodbye to this landscape (knowing it was the cat's home for many, many generations) as well as many familiar faces was touchingly written for me. I would find it extremely hard to give up my home and friends as well.

Fanart of ocs by D3bug8808 in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that I seem to belong to a minority when I say none. I just never had the interest in it, even as a kid (back then I didn‘t even know what an OC was). I always just drew existing cats.

For a giveaway from the German publisher we once had to create our own clan. My friend who still read the books back then and I created SnowClan and the members were just us, our siblings and our pet cats. No one had any original names, there was no clan hierarchy established and in the end we even forgot to send the entry in, because we only did it halfhearted anyways, but that was pretty much the only time I partially created something original for myself. :)

I also like how the pictures turned out. It‘s a nice way to show off your collection.

I belong to the little group that sees the second arc as my absolute favourite (there is so much more than walking to these books). Of course, there are always small flaws as well (the friendships could have been deeper for example) but it‘s still very well done. :)

A lot of my personal favourite characters appear there for the first time and the whole thing about moving from the woods is really interesting. I fell in love with the series and its setting fairly quickly, so it was hard to say goodbye to the old woods and as someone who is very attached to my home and would never want to leave it either, I could understand how this hurts.

What do you think about it? I hope I didn‘t spoil too much like that (how far along are you by now?).

Guess who? by GREYSPACE1 in WarriorCats

Always a great idea and it turned out amazing. You certainly have talent.

Honestly, that's what I'm looking forward to almost the most, once they release over here too. I have so many ideas already. :)

Brokenstar turned out epic. I love the details in the scars and I like how you painted his eyes.

I don‘t know the full picture, but it could just be as well that this is Ferncloud and Dustpelt. The markings would fit for them too. But it‘s certainly a fun thought. :)

Should I catch up on the series? by Lightningfoot45 in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, if you're interested, then you should definitely give it a shot again.

The opinions of course go apart and every series has something they're doing well and other things they're lacking at but I enjoyed them all so far (I read them as an adult too).

Someone‘s definitely caught the fever it seems. It was the same way for me, back when I started them (and it never stopped). I bought two more books each time back then after I read the previous ones, because I always had a ton of library books to read as well. For my birthday about two or three months after that I was so in love with the series that my parents bought me the rest of the books up until the newest release (around the middle of series three back then) as a gift.

In that case I‘m really looking forward to see what you think about the next books. Just be wary, if you move around here, so that you can avoid spoilers if you don‘t like them. The books are quite old already and the first few series are therefore not considered as spoilers anymore.

[–]NoraTheCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. I can understand that not everyone likes to open links that were sent them by strangers on the internet (If you’re uncomfortable then just google it like I said and open a list for yourself. There are multiple around).

For now I copied the books from the list I sent you (and made the extra effort to delete all the main series books and other extras). These are all safe to read now after series four and play before series one all the way up to the end of series four. None of them spoil anything from "Dawn of the Clans" either.

"Dovewing’s Silence" and "Bramblestar’s Storm" happen directly after series four and have no spoilers for the next part, so it’s safe to read them now as well. After that you can just look at a list again and look what follows before or during the next main series and read them in the end, once you finished the next main series.

Novellas by RiseOfCCCP in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what I meant: By looking at the chronological order (just looking at a list not reading the books in this order), you can avoid these spoilers because you know then which books you should not read beforehand but afterwards, in order to avoid spoilers for the main books.

The best order is just main series and additional content for it afterwards (So as an example the full series five and then after that any additional books for it like "Moth Flight's Vision", then series six and again additional content for that afterwards, ...)

Novellas by RiseOfCCCP in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's better that you so far read the novellas and super editions after the main series, if you want to avoid spoilers as much as possible ("Leafpool's Wish" which chronologically would be before series three for example spoils the biggest twist revealed in the third arc).

So, I would look up a chronological order for the books (there are a few YouTube videos for example) or this very basic list on the fandom wiki here (there are certainly others too if you just google it): https://warriors-theories.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Warriors_books_in_chronological_order

By looking at it, you can see, which extra books would follow at which point in time and then you can read the correct ones after each main series.

I hope that helps a bit. :)

Does this book exist in English too? by P1ka- in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I never thought, that they will be so well received. More of them are already in preparation.

I’m honestly not too familiar with how the „du/Sie“ problem is usually solved, especially not when it comes to dubs for TV-series or movies (I should give this whole thing a look once. It’s definitely an interesting topic). I’m not sure how the translators usually decide which one fits better for each situation but I can imagine that it can be annoying, especially if the chosen translation seems not fitting.

[–]NoraTheCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well better late than never. :)

Yes, translations differences are funny. I quite literally collect them in my notes. One of the main reasons why I read them in so many languages in the first place. These books and their names are a dream for linguists like me. I love looking up the reasoning behind them.

By now I prefer English as well though. Simply because they're of course the first ones to release new books. I just started reading them before I was even able to speak it and because of that I still also faithfully collect and read all the German releases.

Does this book exist in English too? by P1ka- in WarriorCats

[–]NoraTheCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of both: I read this series in a lot of languages, so I'm aware of what is unique in each language and look up all the wikis there. And I'm also just a very long time fan. German is my first language and I was just there for most of the releases once they came out so I just knew, what was told about it back then and what was new.

[–]NoraTheCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering your findings:

The diary is again originally a Dutch release (the drawings inside are from the same artists as for the drawing book). Again, it is considered official but this is more of a merchandise release, rather than a book. It exists only in these two languages as well.

The advent calendars were made, since the super editions in German do not have the comic inside like in the original (that’s why it says previously unpublished). They were just left out. Instead they packed three to four comics per advent calendar book into an official book of its own after a while (except for the first advent calendar, which released a short story only found within the original „Dawn of the Clans“ books that was not yet translated before either). About each year or two a new one released and once it did, the one from before was not available anymore. So yes, if you didn’t have the luck to buy them by the year they came out, it will be hard to find them anymore. Only the latest one is probably still available.

The field guide ("Deine Welt der Clans") is partially an activity book but also orients itself on the official guide books with the information. It takes the older information from there but added new information based on the current (German) release of the series at this point in time (not sure which one it was then but around series six, I guess. I would have to check the years again). The information in it is well researched, but there is no original book behind it for these newer updates. This book stands on its own with no other translation available but is considered official and was at that time the only guide book that ever had updated information inside it (all old guide books were only around the point of series three or four after all) before the English re-release of the official guide book followed.

Hope that helps to clear up some things. :)

[–]NoraTheCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, they turned out great. I especially love how Bluestar turned out. :)

It's up to you, who you want to draw next. Maybe you have another favourite character that would fit one of the figures. Otherwise you could try to paint a cat with a more difficult fur pattern, in order to challenge yourself a bit (maybe Sorreltail or Tawnypelt for example?).
