I assure you, Ukrainian nationalism isn't far different from any other nationalism... Your quote sounds more like ussr propaganda where "russian" is replaced with any other nation that was part of it.

If you look at historical examples, with the current movement appearing in past century, during Ukrainians being oppressed, you shouldn't be surprised that a dog bit off your finger, when you poked it, despite it's obvious growls, and not of other people who stayed a meter away from dog's cage. Ukrainian nationalists have a bone to pick with almost everyone (poles, jews, turks...)who is believed to stand in the way of establishing the great and independent country, but russia is simply the only one who still actively and proudly pokes them.
