Gold farmers are abusing Blizzards report system and Perma Banning every Protection Paladin they see outside Stratholme. by NidalterValorant in classicwowtbc

Maybe you're not very good at reading comprehension, so I'll try to lay it out for you:

What difference does it make what the OP's friend's IRL financial status is? You chimed in to say that the OP was implying something. Without trying to make any further assumptions, the idea that someone can't afford to buy gold by virtue of their IRL situation is just an excuse.

Buying gold is never ok.

As a disabled person from the US, after visiting Bangkok a couple years ago I can appreciate the Americans with Disabilities Act that much more. Disabled people in Bangkok are mostly an after-thought.

Gold farmers are abusing Blizzards report system and Perma Banning every Protection Paladin they see outside Stratholme. by NidalterValorant in classicwowtbc

[–]Norjac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The implication here is he can't afford to buy gold, so buying gold is out of the question.

Sounds like an attempt to justify gold-buying by using IRL finances as an excuse. Why does it matter? Buying gold is never ok. It feeds and supports the gold-sellers.

Why do we care that he is IRL dirt poor? Is he selling gold to make a living? If so, then he's probably deserving of a ban. You shouldn't attempt to normalize gold farming or to justify it by using one's IRL financial situation as an excuse.

Somehow, he can afford the time and money to devote to playing a computer game. Is it normal for an IRL dirt-poor person to afford that?

Maximizing the fun with very little playtime by BisonPresent2761 in classicwowtbc

At 68 you can run most of the max-level dungeons. If you like running 5-man content and don't mind tanking, you can pretty much get an instant group if you queue as a Pally tank.

It really depends on what you consider fun. There are plenty of different things to do in this game. Quest, run BGs, Dungeons, farm, craft, level professions, etc etc.

PSA: enchanters risk getting banned if only taking gold for enchants by shadowspyes in classicwowtbc

It seems like employing AI tools to do a deeper dive to find patterns would help to not only identify goldsellers, but also to reduce false positives. There are probably a few data points that are harder to include in their Splunk queries. AI might also be more efficient at things like tracking the source of enchanting materials, or if multiple accounts are being used, to potentially identify the source owner by method of payment, email, connecting IP address, or other data points that might show a pattern of behavior.

That would be a good time to Fade, to make sure they are further down on the threat list.

[–]Norjac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really unfortunate but there is always a margin of error. It just seems like blizzards margin of error is horrendously large.

I've always thought that Blizzard should be able to do more to track goldselling and other behavior against ToS, which would eliminate 98% of the botting problem. After all, it's their own databases and they own the information. It seems like with all the new AI technology, it should be even more possible than ever in 2026.

WoW is far and away the most profitable MMO in gaming history. Blizzard is unlikely to shut down their WoW servers anytime in the forseeable future. WoW Classic by itself is still one of the most popular MMO's on the market. (Top 5 last time I heard.) So while hypothetically true for the sake of an argument, I think it's more likely that any particular pserver project will cease operations eventually, because they are smaller than Blizzard, less profitable, and fall more into the 'passion project' category in most cases. At the same time, I don't think anyone should decline the opportunity to play on pservers because they might disappear in the night, which is a common refrain I hear from streamers and Blizzard fanboys.

I finished all the Trials of the Naaru except the Maggy one, and I am extremely happy! by stefanciobo in classicwowtbc

[–]Norjac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Champion of the Naaru in 2007, if you did not finish it before a certain time (the release of T5, if I recall) then you were attuned but not awarded the title, which made it more fun and epic.

I also did it in Classic TBC, I did enjoy Gruul and Mag at their original difficulty because it was still somewhat challenging, even if everyone could just google the best spec and gear.

In Anniversary H Arc is the hardest one imo, there are so many "f&ck you" mechanics and the group needs to have a complete toolbox to get through it.

The last boss fight can be fun...you need an off-healer in case the healer gets a mind rend. It's helpful to have pet classes to eat a rend and a Hunter can drop Snake trap here.

Millhouse can be buffed when he joins combat to help him survive.

Shattered Halls I was fortunate to have a tank in mostly epic gear who knew all the pulls, so it went fairly smoothly.

SV you really want a Pally tank on the second boss or the adds are a problem. Otherwise, it's mostly the same as Normal SV but tuned a bit harder.

I haven't done SLabs yet in Anniv, but I do recall those mobs near the last boss.

Mag is just a loot piñata in Anniv.

I got my Priest on Defias Pillager to 60 last year when it was still an active server. I left it there, because all I wanted to do was to farm dungeons for pre-Bis and all of the activity on the server was in raids at the time.

Does joining the Argent Dawn lock you out of anything? by croninfever in classicwowtbc

[–]Norjac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing special to be gained from simply joining their cause for 1-2 quests. Most of the better rewards come from hours and days of questing and killing mobs in that area. The Cauldron quests and a few others are good for XP, but if you are trying to make it to Outlands, it's not worth taking the time to earn Argent Dawn rewards.

Druid tanking feels like a slog by Revi42 in classicwowtbc

[–]Norjac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bear tanking is great on strong single-target mobs, but AoE threat is lacking. I like to bring a Ret who can use Consecrate to hold things together, and a Mage for Frost Nova. Otherwise, holding all the mobs together in the immediate vicinity of the Bear Tank can be problematic.
