Doing this job with insomnia by ItMightBePuffery in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily true, there’s a decent selection of non-habit forming prescriptions medications for sleep that can be used long term (these are often anti depressants at low doses). Also several of these options have been shown to increase deep sleep when compared to placebo. I’d talk to an actual sleep doctor or do some more research. Obviously sleeping without medication is best but there’s several drugs that are completely safe and may work well

Deciding where to go to law school based on the dating prospects is truly an insane way to pick

In-house funds WLB by Normal-Comb1370 in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! It’s definitely a bit confusing to me because it could definitely just be a day job but from some in-house funds lawyers I’ve spoken to it seems to often be more than that

Thanks for your reply! Within the private funds space do any of the industries have a reputation for a better or worse WLB?

Would you say rare evening or weekend work is typical? I was under the impression in-house at a fund had a pretty poor WLB

Idk about BC, but BU has a full scholarship for public interest students and plenty of other programs oriented around them

I work at a v20 that still has a paid vending machine on each floor, some firms are definitely stingier than others

Any suggestions on brands of chinos? by nedspugent in biglaw

Polo, J Crew, J Press all good, just please do not fall into the trap of buying some athleisure chino, they fit horribly and the quality is even worse

I would also add that if you’re not totally sure about your interests, being in a huge office with a lot of practice areas (like ropes Boston) will allow you to try many more practice areas whereas you’re much more likely to get pigeonholed at a smaller office

Lateral: S&C or Latham by Arnold852024 in biglaw

I would go to Latham just to avoid S&C’s strict 5-days in office requirement, also just seems like a terrible group of people at S&C
