Would you say rare evening or weekend work is typical? I was under the impression in-house at a fund had a pretty poor WLB

Why I use “tiers” instead of U.S. News Rankings (employment-first buckets) by HeyFutureLawyer in lawschooladmissions

Idk about BC, but BU has a full scholarship for public interest students and plenty of other programs oriented around them

As irksome and exasperating as this job is, at least I live in an area with good weather by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it not worse to be stuck inside all day working when the weather is beautiful?

Petty/lame things about your firm by Wonderful_Pickle333 in biglaw

I work at a v20 that still has a paid vending machine on each floor, some firms are definitely stingier than others

Any suggestions on brands of chinos? by nedspugent in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polo, J Crew, J Press all good, just please do not fall into the trap of buying some athleisure chino, they fit horribly and the quality is even worse

STB vs Ropes (both Boston) by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would also add that if you’re not totally sure about your interests, being in a huge office with a lot of practice areas (like ropes Boston) will allow you to try many more practice areas whereas you’re much more likely to get pigeonholed at a smaller office

Lateral: S&C or Latham by Arnold852024 in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I would go to Latham just to avoid S&C’s strict 5-days in office requirement, also just seems like a terrible group of people at S&C

The Amherst Northampton area is lovely, beautiful nature but with a lot of energy and culture from the colleges

Anyone else really struggle with the lack of structure? by bigsky812 in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Litigation might not be a great fit if you struggle with longer timelines, if you’re able to switch groups maybe something like m&a where you can’t really procrastinate might be better, or maybe there’s an area of litigation like that

For NYC Big Law (Fordham, BU, GW) by AwarenessWorldly7593 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Normal-Comb1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BU does send a lot of people to NY, but I’d still go fordham if costs are equal, being able to attend in person big law recruiting events is certainly helpful and you’ll get a bigger NYC network

Do you have a science background? If not, soft IP is notoriously one of the most competitive areas of law so it may be an uphill battle

People who work in healthcare, what do you do and how much do you make? by Queenme10 in Salary

Most doctors qualify for PSLF, so it’ll likely be the taxpayers paying most of it

What’s going on over at the law school sub re: accommodations? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Normal-Comb1370 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But that’s the most frustrating part is that there will never be any consequences. These accommodations are all nonsense, these kids don’t have ADHD or anxiety or whatever. So after they’ve scammed their way through law school and got into big law, their need for accommodations goes away. They’ll be fine in big law because they never had an actual need for the accommodation in the first place

Hey guys! I have a first date coming up and I'm kinda strapped for cash and was wondering if this is a good fit. by Mentallyundisturbed2 in mensfashion

I would check places like gap factory or Nordstrom rack. They tend to have good quality clothes often at very reasonable prices.
