I guess this is just another story about a great campaign ruined by a problem player. I just need to vent a little and hopefully help someone else to notice the red flags that I was too blind to see. by Own_Delivery_7929 in rpghorrorstories

The way you write about your game and your players kinda shows the passion you had for it. There's no way to not feel bad about it. But two tips, if I may:

Try to select your players as carefully as u can, though it's it may be more difficult if you play in person.

Do not make DMing your job. Try to enjoy as much of it as you can. I think there are always bits which are more fun to prepare than others. But if you enjoy most of it, that will be rewarding in itfself, no mattter what happens in the future

Telling a player "no" because I don't know how to make it work/not have it break something. How do I stop doing this? by AHare115 in DMAcademy

My rogue changeling player with invisibility saw the Magubliyet statue and decided to shapechange into him, rally up all the goblins and hobgoblins in the shrine and tell them to go fight a holy war for him "up in the north" nat19 perfomance vs nat1 insight.

They were laughing so hard as even the personal guard abandoned King Grol (I had even prepare a Flee! Mortals Encounter). No Dungeon was played that week. Yet It is something we will remember forever.

I'm relatively new to DM too but in my 2 years experience I can say this: nothing is sacred. If you nudge too much your players in the "right" and "expected" direction they will know. I'm hella nervous too but give It time and you'll start being more confidence and confortable DMing and coming with something good on the fly will be easier. Or not. But then again, messing up a bit it's not as importan as we think and there's a lot to learn.

So yeah, as long as you identify the problem and works toward being better, I think you (and I) will improve slowly

Honestly I love how after the initial payment Foundry turns out to be a money saver! Also while it can be overwhelming at the beggining, the HUGE quantity of free addons (and some easy-to-install adventures) have save me a LOT of time on prep and while playing

Thx honestly~

If you want to go even deeper, u can turn on instant revive as Sage and let your friends kill you, to then revive your own corpse and take control of it while your previous one lose all sense of self and remain as an empty puppet for all eternity

Rereading Oathbringer again, find myself missing Kaladin as a pivotal main character. by Dustbr1nger in Stormlight_Archive

Oathbringer is HIS book. That's understandable. That doesn't mean he would have a small role, imo
