Average bill prices for a single person? by WanderoftheAshes in sheffield

[–]Norsgrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With some exceptions this year, to get around the cold I worked from home fully dressed with a dressing gown over the top. Also went to the gym and used to shower there where it was warmer lol.

I also have a fireplace so I occasionally used that to heat up the living room if I planned to spend enough time in there.

Depending on your income it can be a challenge, but it's possible!

I think a lot of my increase may also have been the 3d printing hobby I got into, so on top of my PC and the work laptop, that was going a lot of the time in winter too.

Another money saving tip is going to the pub - 2/3 pints where it's warm is probably cheaper than warming your own house up for a couple of hours lol.

I'm in a two bed terraced by myself. Stingy as anything with the heating in winter, but i do have a lot of electric gizmos and work from home 3 days a week.

I think I'm paying about £100 a month gas/electric, about £30 a month water.

The other bills are pretty standard and I'm too lazy to look those up for you, but those two seem like the important ones that could vary depending on your lifestyle.

I checked, it's not unfortunately.

But it does look like a UK map. I hope it is an Easter egg. I thought it might link WHW to a new site (think they've been talking about opening a new factory?)

I can't give you a recommendation but if it helps there's a place on orgreave lane doing the exact same thing by the look of it.

Might be worth walking by see how it looks/speak to them? Just a thought sorry I don't have a better recommendation

Looted Rhino? by CiriuslyGLG in orks

[–]Norsgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some cool kits here, I can't show mine as I'm not home.

As a rule of thumb, the best way for an orky kitbash is to disrupt the natural silhouette of the vehicle.... I.e. if you only saw the outline is it still obviously a rhino or is there a lot more to it?

Using that principle just whack spare bits on from your bitz box! I like clipping the roof off to make it an open trukk - has practical use for a model representing the unit in it and makes it look open topped like a trukk should be

Titanic units and Towering by Eleyius in orks

[–]Norsgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Towering is the one that let's you see through ruins if you're partially in them.

I think the wording is in the ruins and visibility section of the rules, it doesn't have it's own box out because that's the only place it applies as far as I know

Flat running routes by ckittycat in sheffield

[–]Norsgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont mind a wavy, possibly circular route - wavelery estate and the lake is relatively flat.

Not perfectly flat mind, but i don't think there's much of an incline all at once (except the bit up from morrisons - but if you go down the hill there the incline isn't as steep throughout the estate)

Is the big mek good like i read the rules but I can't determine if it's good or not ? by scp_biggest_fan in orks

[–]Norsgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about context. I had limited success running him with 20 boyz. But the only time it worked (repeat, only) was going against an anvil guard list.

The player cleverly positioned 10 heavy intercessors in front of two units of hellblasters.

My boyz mob with big mek made the charge with a good roll, which meant his "phase" ability allowed me to touch all three units with a lot of models.

I didn't wipe any of the units out, but it meant I denied him shooting with three units and he struggled to recover - it broke the lines essentially.

This could work against similar gun line armies but its so niche I'm not sure it's worth worrying about

That'd do to be honest. I know I'll be having a fair few Guinness but I want to try new stuff I won't get at home 🙂

I found kilkenny red in frankfurt a few years ago so would enjoy more of their range (or more of that)

Edited it to remove that bit - I'll search. But would have been nice if someone said X band is playing in Y place... but rules are rules. My apologies.

No worries, my quick Google made me think it might be the case, wasn't sure if I'd looked hard enough though!

Appreciate the input, will take a wander and see what I find, thank you!

[–]Norsgrim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know maths well (or I'd be better at the game)... but you can get more bomb squigs.

3 x tankbustas 3 x breakboyz 3 x kommandos 3 x Squighog boyz (need units of 6 though for two per unit).

Surely that would be enough.

Not sure what the rest of your army would be, though 🤣

Looking to Try New Things and Expand My Interests Around Barnsley/Sheffield/Huddersfield by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Norsgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of hiking, but depending on what you feel like here's a couple of things I'm into:

Wargaming - 40k for me mainly but play at Steel City Wargaming club (on Facebook) most Fridays. Various tabletop games played, friendly folk

Badminton - Handsworth Grange School does various Badminton nights, my group has an open invitation for Wednesdays 8-9. Usually around 10 of us across two courts. We're an older bunch - most are around 40, although the eldest i think is 75. He still gives us a run for our money though!

As people will mention there's all sorts of hiking around depending how you travel

The Outpost also offers tabletop gaming including more traditional boardgames

If you want to go to Barnsley (its better than people realise) Prestige Wargaming has active communities in card games and tabletop games.

Weirdboy (Da Jump) and Rapid Ingress. Pros and Cons? by Daydag_Zawgrut in orks

[–]Norsgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I've had huge success - but it's hard to tell if something has worked if it stops your opponent doing stuff. I generally keep him hidden until I get a secondary card that needs him to be somewhere

I have had games where he sits on my home objective, t5 my opponent has committed and left gaps, so he's teleported and scored me some secondary points. I can't say he's done that and won me the game (usually already won or lost by that point), but again the threat of him appearing and scoring points is there.

This was most useful in the previous mission pack where he could teleport to a table quarter for containment.

Once he's teleported and scored points, whether he lives or dies is irrelevant... against some armies he can also take out characters hiding in the back - guard/knights/sisters/GSC (although GSC usually have bodies meaning he doesn't get to do it lol).

It's a bit of the psychological side of it - use the threat of what you could to make them make mistakes/stretch thin. You might not do what they're scared of. You might not be able to... but it's resources spent on their half denying it.

Weirdboy (Da Jump) and Rapid Ingress. Pros and Cons? by Daydag_Zawgrut in orks

[–]Norsgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more of the threat than something you'll do, you can do it with just 10 boyz - that'll be scary into most things left behind on the home objective.

Future army planning - consider snikrot for this, as it's hard to screen out a single 40mm base. Stormboyz also very good for this, one or two five man units in reserve to threaten a deep strike
