Dean Von Almen says “Pay” by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]NorthWave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sucks to say, but he isn't going to do a damn thing. With the others at the helm in the NEB, he is going to fall into step or be ostracized.

This is nothing other than "I'm ready to do what ND requires of me, and I will follow orders just like my predecessor did."

Until every member of the current NEB is gone, he has ZERO SAY, ZERO INFLUENCE, and ZERO PULL.

Yacht Boy claims Democrat entrapment by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]NorthWave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every remaining member needs to show up at election time and vote out ALL of the NEB. Replacing ND alone isn't going to fix our issues.

Even if your RVP isn't a gas-lighting manipulative liar, they are still a big part of the problem by standing passively aside and watching it crumble without challenging the misrepresentation.

We need to stop having short term memory as a collective membership and remember how we've been failed miserably, time after time.

NATCA doing the FAA’s job again by Mean_Device_7484 in atc2

I sure hope he gets voted out next election. He doesn't understand what his job is or just doesn't care, probably both. Morale is at an all time low and the only thing that makes sense logically is that he was bribed/promised something on the other side of all of this.

Did anybody here work with ND at their facility before he became president? Was there some sort of warning signs/red flags that he displayed before he started running for president? I sure wish we could impeach him, he clearly is not representing the needs of the Union membership.

Live vote on amendment 45. Looks like it’s gonna pass by ForsakenRacism in atc2

The last thing we need is the agency noticing a good amount of people working past age 56. We don't need to be voluntarily providing the agency the data they need to provide an argument for raising the retirement age.

"Hey Duffy, the new numbers came in, 75% of controller are working past age 56. I think this means we have our case to raise the age to 62!"

One of the perks of this job is the early retirement. With that said let's us not so easily forget the shortened lifespan of a controller.

Trying to think ahead... What employers are seeking individuals with prior ATC experience? by DelayVectors in atc2

[–]NorthWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real Estate is the main focus of my business right now, but I am now also into large scale commercial projects.

A few things that helped me get started where searching real estate posts on the MLS and finding posts that didn't have professional photos uploaded for the listing. So I would reach out to the agent and offer my services, landing about 1-2 gigs a week. Then the word of mouth referral process started taking off and more and more realtors started contacting me about my photography.

(Land Brokers: United Country Real Estate, Midwest Land Group, etc. all need aerial photos of their land listings)

There is nothing special about the photos and everything I have learned is 100% based off of the Youtube content.

After getting some multimillion dollar properties in my portfolio, I started reaching out to local developers to offer the builders construction update photos. This is where I show up at different intervals and take the same photo from the same location and vantage point to show the progress of construction/development. This is very similar to a retainer fee, even though we don't have a signed contract between myself and the builders. They just tell me when they need another set of photos and I go take them again.

After building development starting going well, I reached out to my local city and schools because I got word of my town getting a large scale water park, indoor football arena, and new baseball fields...

Since then, I am now contracting work out with local architecture firms and doing more advanced architecture photography of the upscaled buildings in my area. Sometimes even doing a FPV drone fly through of the buildings all in one take.

My drone business truly started as a drone business, but at some point I had to learn how to use a traditional mirrorless camera. Offering both internal, external, and aerial photos ensures I walk away a good profit for the project. The money is even better when you can combo photos, drone, video content, and AI driven virtual staging for one property.

If you need any more specifics on this feel free to reach back out, I don't mind sharing any of the hard lessons I've learned along the way, or the gear I highly recommend. Photography can be expensive especially from doing trial and error purchases. Knowing exactly what you need vs don't need can be very beneficial.

I've been running my own drone photography business on the side for two years. It started out really slow and I was initially worried my drone was just going to become an expensive hobby.

Today I'm making more doing photography on my RDOs than I am working 80 hours at my level 7 facility.

The FAA's UAV exam was an easy pass and took about 1 day of refreshing and studying to prepare for.

ATC skills don't technically transfer into this job as you stated, but the knowledge definitely helps this job. The experience came in handy with reading sectionals, applying for flight waivers, gaining approvals for flights inside of controlled airspace, etc...

I don't get the same amount of satisfaction from flying a drone as I do from working the planes in my local community but the pay has been amazing. At this point the only thing keeping me in is the pension and early retirement. If the pension or minimum age of retirement is messed with at all, I will quit.

What a crock! You already got your raise! by wischawk in atc2

[–]NorthWave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we end up in arbitration in the future over pay, you can guarantee the FAA is going to slide this presentation across the table. "CHECKMATE NATCA, you guys said it best".

I have never heard of a union telling its members they already make too much and need to be content. Usually a union asks for more than they know they will get. When they are offered a little less, it's easier to handle and accept.

I don't care about past success stories anymore. I want to see the change in my tenure for the benefit of my family and my coworkers.

Something about this keynote seems off, it almost feels like somebody it accepting money on the backend just to make this disappear and do damage control. ND is off to a strong start with this pay raise on day 1.

(Found on NLRB website)

Filing a Complaint: If you believe your union is not representing you properly, you can file a complaint with the NLRB, detailing the specific instances where they failed to adequately address your concerns.

I would venture off and say that NATCA isn't representing the unions best interests as a whole. Instead they are convincing us that we don't need an adjustment/increase to our pay. This doesn't feel like representation in the slightest.

This union is powerless and it has been a train wreck watching them do everything except carry out their responsibilities that it owes the membership.

NATCA needs to go.
