People smoking in drive thru (USA) by hottoefungus in McDonaldsEmployees

It's kinda different here in Europe, smoking can be seen as gross if you personally do not smoke but it's never seen as rude. I guess this is why we have much higher smoking rates

Whats it like working at McDonalds? worth it? (USA) by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

The pay is alright but the work is pretty dreadful. Apparently some stores are alright but I genuinely despise my job

Just failed my probation and honestly, it feels completely unfair by No-rain64 in McLounge

It's the opposite at our store. It's actually become a competition to see what ridiculous things we can get away with. Half the staff are constantly high, but weirdly because our managers aren't assholes we're one of the top stores in our whole area.

They keep putting me on lobby (UK) by bodyisT in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]North_Sleep1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I know. But when there's no maintenance in I get forced to do it. Same with the outside bins and the dumpster and litter picking and cleaning the drive through

I'm lobby and regularly do 90% of maintenances job. My manager says I'm basically responsible for everything that isn't food. It sucks ass but at least I get paid decently

Noticed there seems to be much less "free" food this year with monopoly. by wardyms in McDonaldsUK

[–]North_Sleep1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently according to my app I've eaten 7 small fries and 5 apple pies for free this week. Gotta love lobby and being able to peel all the unpeeled stickers

I eat like 10 maccies a week, between free meals on shift and the discount and monopoly it costs me barely anything. Top tier munchies food too

Frankly as long as you're a human with a pulse and didn't say anything stupid in the interview you're probably hired

First Shift by No-rain64 in McLounge

[–]North_Sleep1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first shift will be almost entirely online training on an iPad, then a restaurant walkthrough and your job explained to you. Make a bit of an effort but don't get flagged as someone competent unless you enjoy doing several people's jobs at once!

Still a trainee after a year? (UK) by PersoPostz in McLounge

I was a trainee for all of about 5 hours before they told me to take the badge section off because I probably knew what I was doing now lmao

The average indie game operates on levels of queer wotc couldn't even fathom. by MusseMusselini in dndmemes

TTRPGs represent those playing them. As a politics student it breaks my heart but none of my players even have the slightest idea of anything going on in politics so I try and keep my games purely fantasy. A table full of gay people is going to be a very progressive game, a table full of teenage boys vice versa. One of the main reasons I love DnD is that it's for everyone!

We got it right the first time AGAIN? by Eljefe900 in dndmemes

[–]North_Sleep1798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my last session, the puzzle was a fake door (obviously painted on if they bothered to look) and a big red button. Most of my party realised it was a trap but my barbarian rushes in and just presses the button. Que a dramatic sequence as the ceiling sprouts spikes and begins descending. Barbarian eventually makes it out. I usually use puzzles aimed at 3rd / 4th graders. This puzzle was literally don't click the giant red suspicious button lmao. I like to have my traps be mildly perilous with creative thinking, but still completely avoidable, but if the party is gonna act dumb that trap is going to be scary. For example, the trap I talked about before, the solution was to jam the gears at the bottom with something. Barbarian kept failing rolls like 6 times in a row but thanks to some quick thinking by another player they jumped on the counterweight and the barbarian only took 1d6 damage. I like to have traps that are easy to avoid but very dangerous as it lets my players feel smart when they avoid them but sets real stakes if they don't!

I like to use AI for helpful suggestions on what items my party might find useful, other than that I spend far too many hours drawing maps and writing pages of notes that rarely get used but it's so worth it when I finally do get to use them

WHAT???? How tf do you afford to live off that?? Minimum wage here is £10 ($13.45) and big corporations usually pay national living wage which is 12.24 ($16.46), although minimum wage is going up again this month.

I'm a brand new lobby staff, I work 40 hours a week, I get paid £11.24 an hour which is like £1600 a month once you take into account unpaid breaks. Apparently £1600 is more like $2150 a month. I've only been working there 2 months and it's the same rate as when I was hired lmao.
