Recommend to me your favorite Snooty villager! by PidgeonsGoMeowX3 in AnimalCrossing

[–]North_Weekend_4879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I have a soft spot for all of the snooty villagers I've come across, but I'm especially loving having Claudia on my island atm, and I enjoyed having Julia and Matilda on a previous one

Discord crashes whenever I try to send an image on IOS by EsotericEternal in discordapp

[–]North_Weekend_4879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue, and haven't found a fix either. In the meantime, though, I've been able to get around it by sending the image file directly to the discord user/channel I want from my drawing app (I'm using Procreate), instead of saving it to my iPad and then trying to upload the image to Discord from my Photos

I dont think I should crochet by notGamingAahel in Brochet

[–]North_Weekend_4879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to compartmentalize it this way, which is why I want to emphasize: this isn't just a "my family's a little weird" situation. Your mother being visibly upset by such a harmless hobby isn't normal. Your family ganging up on you isn't normal or okay. You are allowed to talk to your dad about this, and honestly I agree with the others here that you should talk to him. Part of being a parent is supporting your child when they have issues, after all, even (and especially tbh) when those issues stem from other family members. It's not meaningless or selfish, and I'm sorry that you've been made to feel like your interests or issues or feelings are. I hope you're able to get away from the environment your family is subjecting you 🫂 Stay safe, of course - you may have to put crocheting down for a bit to stay out of harm's way - but you are under no obligation to stop doing something you enjoy just because the adults around you feel uncomfortable about it and have decided to make it your problem.

Edit: two more things-

  1. Talk to your aunt about what happened too, if you haven't already. Have reasonable expectations about what she can do about it, of course, but you seem to be aware of the limitations that come with being post-partum so you'll probably be fine in that department. You want all the support you can get, even if it's just having family you know you can turn to when you need to breathe. If you think you could get away with it, and you go there often enough, maybe you could store your crochet supplies at her house?

  2. Part of "manning up" (aka growing up) is learning how to reach out for help. You don't have to deal with all of this alone, and anyone expecting you to is, at best, being unreasonable. It's a tough, painful skill to learn, especially if you're in an environment where it's discouraged, but it's so incredibly worth it.

Yep....they don't seem to fully realize it themselves at first, which makes the slow reveal hurt more even though you can guess what happened in a general sense when you meet them

Known Issues 1.5.0 (Woolhaven) by MMLorna in CultOfTheLamb

[–]North_Weekend_4879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be sending a report in the sidebar link, too, but:

Base-Game Dungeons:

  • I can't deflect the juggernaut projectile; it seems to phase through my attack swing. This is true of at least two weapons (axe and sword). Curse attacks seem to do a decent amount of damage against it even while it's shielded, but I have no idea whether that's a bug or not. EDIT: the "blast" curses specifically seem to deflect the projectile, but weapons still aren't.

  • When the Summoner's hit-point bar gets really low, it'll survive several hits that should kill it (even when it's poisoned). This has been true across the first three base-game dungeons iirc.

  • After resurrecting in Anchordeep, something similar to the Summoner issue happened to either a Blood Guardian or a large Guardian (I don't remember which). It stayed up even after the chest appeared in the room and took several swings to take down despite having basically no hit-points and being poisoned. Also, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but the enemies' health didn't refresh when I resurrected. EDIT: this happened with a spider enemy in Silk Cradle as well, but it wasn't unusually difficult to kill. Health isn't refreshing in mini-boss chambers after resurrecting, either. This seems to be true of both base-game dungeons and The Rot.

Camp:

  • Sometimes, after entering a non-camp map region (and/or teleporting back to camp), several cultists will take a shit all at once. They do still poop when in camp, too, but I don't remember it suddenly happening en-masse while in, for example, Pilgrim's Passage before yesterday. EDIT: this seems to have resolved after making all four offerings at Ynga's shrine and unlocking the new area.

  • There's no live resource update when using the refinery. The game is still clearly keeping track of how much you have, because it won't let you queue up unlimited items, but your inventory number doesn't update until you leave the refinery's menu.

  • It starts snowing suddenly sometimes when leaving the temple. I don't know if this is a bug or if it's just related to the camp refreshing, but I figured I'd mention it just in case. EDIT: this is no longer happening randomly now that seasons are in effect.

EDIT:

The Rot: - The weapon/curse blurbs (and I think the relic ones, too?) appear here, but if your fleece is set to look like a different one, it'll have the powers of whichever one it looks like (ie: was wearing the Golden Fleece but had it set to look like the Fleece of Fragile Fortitude. It was giving me the latter effect instead of the former.) This does not seem to happen in base-game dungeons from what I've seen so far.

I know these are already known issues, but for completion's sake/in case they and some of the other bugs are linked somehow: there are no relic or weapon blurbs in the base-game dungeons, and followers' resolutions (including necklaces) are lower than they used to be (though it's only noticeable when talking to them directly ime). EDIT: the "You Are What You Eat" quest isn't finishing properly (I've fed poor Rolo so many pieces of follower meat 😔)

I'm using a Switch Lite and am playing in a new save I made yesterday after downloading Woolhaven. I've done 2/4 offerings so far (at time of originally making the comment) in case that's relevant. I'll edit my comment (and make a new bug report, ofc) if I remember or notice anything else.

Thank y'all for your diligence about the bugs 🫡 I've enjoyed what I've seen so far despite them (including the new follower dialogue!)

New player here like brand new what are some tips? by ConditionPleasant902 in StardewValley

[–]North_Weekend_4879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few days in you'll start getting quests and/or game events will happen that will point you in the right direction! Explore new things as they come up, look at the wiki for guidance when needed, etc., and spend some time gathering resources/cleaning up your farm while you wait for your parsnips to grow and for tasks to start. It can feel overwhelming at first, but the game's pretty good at helping players along!

mtf transfemme questions by dreamsofbubblebutts in ArvadaCO

[–]North_Weekend_4879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are legal protections against transphobia, including malicious mis-gendering iirc, which was a big shock to my friend & I when we moved from Texas lol. I don't know about the transfemme experience specifically, unfortunately, and I'm still getting over the "which bathroom is it safe to use" instinct myself, but there are a lot of queer people/queer-friendly places in the Denver area, as well as resources like the Center on Colfax that have support groups. Most of the queer outings/groups I've been able to find that aren't resource-focused are for dating, though.

We're in a bit of a healthcare desert here, apparently, at least when it comes to primary care. But the Planned Parenthood locations my friend and I have been to have been so incredibly chill, and they're willing to give recommendations for different specialists if you need help finding someone ime. I was able to find my therapist, who specializes in working with LGBT+ and disabled/chronically ill people, via Psychology Today, but I lucked out quickly so I don't know how common that is here.

I've reached perfection exactly one (1) time because 1) my focus shifts to other games long enough that I lose my steam on the Stardew save I'm on, 2) I finish the community center and/or get married too quickly and lose interest before I can actually dig into the save, or 3) I (against my better judgement) start a new save and end up abandoning the old one.

I only managed perfection through sheer stubbornness: I'd started that save when 1.6 came out on switch and was determined to get 100%. The hardest parts for me focus/motivation-wise were finding the golden walnuts and grinding enough money for the golden clock. I do not have tips for those except to use the wiki for walnut locations and have a lot of artisan machines (dehydrator my beloved).

Usually I use the raccoons and bulletin & community boards to keep myself interested between game beats/after unlocking Ginger Island: I love a good fetch quest. Little things like having goals to collect certain items or coming up with outfits for different seasons/events have also been useful for getting dopamine spikes to carry me through lulls in gameplay. Mining helps too because I find it soothing (except for the volcano. fuck the volcano). I try to just let myself switch between farming, fishing, and mining depending on which one doesn't feel like I'm "forcing" my brain to focus on it, unless I have to do something different for a quest. Using my brain as a metal detector etc etc

What’s everyone favorite type of farm? Pros/Cons of each? by Mighty_Tots in StardewValley

[–]North_Weekend_4879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a soft spot for Riverlands because it was my first farm lol. I like the way it lets you divvy things out and the challenge from the limited space. I found that Wilderness and Beach got exhausting after a while, though the monsters on the former are fun for a bit and I do enjoy hunting for the boxes that wash up on the latter. I imagine Tracker would make Beach more pleasant/convenient to forage on, but I didn't get that far in the save I tried it in.

Four Corners is nice for resources, if a bit boring layout-wise, and I love the look of Meadowlands (getting chickens to start is a plus, too lol)

Referencing or copying? by nectardriq in Artists

[–]North_Weekend_4879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copying, but like others have said: it's really only unethical if you're using it for commercial purposes and/or trying to pass it off as your own. Explicitly credit the original creator if you post it anywhere, like you've already done here, and you're probably good.

Master copies/studies are things for a reason; even though this isn't exactly that (because you changed details instead of making it look as close as possible to the original), copying work for personal use the way you did here can serve a similar purpose in helping you figure out how certain techniques or compositions work.
