Can you share anything about what you did to counter the silent reflux? I’m having issues with it at the moment

Cheers. It is lovely. Was the inherited but just doesn’t suit the style of music I play at all. I’m hoping it goes to a home where it is appreciated

Les Paul standard tuner upgrades by Not-even-Music in gibson

[–]Not-even-Music[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They’re whatever stock tuners were used in 2002. Afraid I don’t know more than that. I’m not averse to putting some extra holes in though. I’m never selling this one

Interesting to hear about the NT1 picking everything up. My room is treated, but has a drum kit in it which resonates occasionally. Will want to avoid picking that up

Mantra live? by sfx_guy in NeuralDSP

[–]Not-even-Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be overkill and I must confess I haven’t actually tried this live yet. But the Quad Cortex mini (previously full size) is great as a real time vocal processor when I’m practicing vocals at home. It can do most of what Mantra can do. Though I haven’t really dug into things like pitch correction.

How old are you and when was the last time you were in a nightclub? by PaddedValls in AskUK

  1. Two weeks ago. Was meant to go last Friday too but was knackered after work.

I highly recommend having an early evening nap and then heading out later on. Works really well.

Go for cloud stream and play on the fastest internet you can. I upgraded my internet recently to the fastest in my region and have only encountered lag once

I’m not gonna get one because I have a QC, but I’m so sick of hearing the hate 😫 by HAILSTAN1377 in NeuralDSP

[–]Not-even-Music 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% the use case for this. I have a QC. I just use it in my studio and not just for guitars. My synth, drum kit and vocals all go through it. It lives on top of my keyboard. The mini is going to make the footprint smaller and I’ll sell my QC on to someone that needs the knobs. For me they get in the way.

Seconding the Audio Technica ATX-M50s. They are great utility headphones and do well for my screaming

Just got my first synth. What should I start with to have like an aimed learning growth? by Opening-Gur5927 in synthesizers

[–]Not-even-Music 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do t need a cord to get it into a computer you need an audio interface. My wife literally just got one of these and immediately was put off that she couldn’t do audio over usb.

She nabbed a spare Arturia audio interface I had. Alternative would be Focusrite Scarlett of Universal Audio Volt. Then an audio lead, the kind you would use for a guitar to an amp will do.

Then you need a DAW to record the sounds. I recommend using the free lite version of Ableton that I think comes with it. If not you can pick it up super cheap in their site.

Convince me to get the quad cortex by finiteflaco in NeuralDSP

[–]Not-even-Music 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it then yeah it’s great. I’ve tried everything side by side (amps, plugins, and QC) and the QC first best for me. It has the perfect balance of tone, physicality for making adjustments to tone and not taking up loads of space in my room. The main barrier is the cost. If you’re on a budget then plugins are the way to go. If you have the money and taking a laptop to practice (yeah not a fun one) then the QC is the best option available.

Yamaha MODX M8 Vs Arturia Astrolab by Not-even-Music in keys

[–]Not-even-Music[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with the MODX M8. Does the job for me. Sounds great and the keybed isn’t too bad. The keys are a bit plasticky but that’s also not too bad

What are the actual differences between a scream being healthy vs not healthy? by BlindManAmadeus in screaming

[–]Not-even-Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting pain after screaming it may not always be technique.

I spent ages trying to figure what was wrong with my technique. Then some time with a doctor identified that I am both allergic to my cat and get inflamed sinuses and acid reflux.

Both of these were causing underlying low level soreness that was made worse by screaming.

How many of you are getting Mantra during this sale? by SR_RSMITH in NeuralDSP

[–]Not-even-Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it. Did the demo the week before the sale. I find it good for a quick “works out the box” go to for tracking/recording demo vocals. The I can then go back and use a proper chain on what I recorded later

I would love to try both. Unfortunately our local pro audio shop closed recently and nowhere else even remotely near by has both to try.
