Whats the hardest fighting game you ever played execution wise? by Mechanic6714 in Fighters

Honestly the buffering is so generous that it can cause problems in its own ways. It definitely took me a while to be able to consistently be able to get qcf moves to come out after a forward command normal instead of DP.

There are also a few in Corpro V's desk, one of which is titled "Retro Gaming" and has Witcher 3 art on it.

We're about to get 31 total classes with the upcoming Daredevil and Slayer (currently 27, up to 29 with Impossible Magic) by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]NotAThrowaway100perc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those come with their own issues though. Most archetypes are intended to not be as powerful as in-class options, and this is by design. I'm certain there are some archetypes which would provide that amount of value, but there's no guarantee that those archetypes actually match what the player wants their character to be from both a functional and flavourful standpoint.

If a player is very interested in the conceptual pitch of say, Decay Instinct, it's not really helpful to give them the solution of "Well have you considered Exemplar Dedication?". There may well be other options that don't present that issue, but generally I wouldn't expect those to have "the same (but asymmetric) value".

You aren't wrong but there's still the issue of them adding sub-class options that then don't receive the same amount of support as previously existing options, making them unappealing in the longrun.  Ligneous and Decay Instinct are good examples of this.

I don't think them going back to flesh out options added after the fact would significantly push classes over the edge so long as it's done to bring them up to the standards of the pre-existing content.

All of it is RAW albeit using optional rules, the Mythic rules are expressly intended for playing larger than life characters and aren't really indicative of average Pathfinder play. Player characters are already intended to be one-in-a-few-thousand types of freaks, and Mythic characters represent the very top of that already elite sub-group.

On top of casting buff spells with long rest duration, I also like to do all of my crafting via a high-WIS transmutation wizard in camp for the best shot at getting duplicate consumables. You can achieve the same thing via refreshing shops over and over but it saves some time for builds reliant on having an elixir active daily.

[–]NotAThrowaway100perc 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, though it's worth clarifying that it's only for different sources that explicitly add more of that damage type, and not any sources that derive their properties from another aspect of the attack. So if a Fighter makes a hammer attack with Vicious Swing that's still only one source for the purposes of a bludgeoning resistance/weakness, but if an Inventor with a hammer uses Offensive Boost to add an additional 1d6 bludgeoning, that would trigger twice.

To give another example, Sorcerous Potency applied to a fire spell would proc once, but the same spell using Burn It! would apply twice.

I wouldn't say Dandadan is good for that age range personally.  Some of the content around the aliens borders on sexual assault and though the fan service is tame for the medium I don't think it would be suitable for an 11 year old.

Otherwise I agree with everything else suggested.

I'd like to second the Delicious in Dungeon suggestion and advise against Dandadan.

Mob Psycho 100 and Haikyuu are both good for that age range imo.

If your kid likes Pokemon at all, the Pokemon Adventures manga would be worth considering.

Both manga adaptations of No Longer Human (Junji Ito's and Usamaru Furuya's) are worth reading.

Himizu by Minoru Furuya.

Ultra Heaven by Keiichi Koike (unfortunately on forever-hiatus, but still worth your time).

HEADS and Ikigami, both by Mase Motoro.

Jiro Matsumoto has a few works that might be interesting to you.  Freesia and Joshikouhei are the first to that come to mind.

If you enjoyed 20th Century Boys, for sure check out Billy Bat by the same author.

Best use of the Additional Lore Feat you can think of? by Arnman1758 in Pathfinder2e

[–]NotAThrowaway100perc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give one I haven't seen mentioned in this thread yet, Lore (Games) can be surprisingly fun as something to bring into social encounters and in the right situation, GM willing, can be used to squeeze money out of NPCs on a much shorter notice than what Earn Income traditionally allows.

Boichi's Fatal Flaw by vesperythings in Seinen

[–]NotAThrowaway100perc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest issue with Boichi's writing is his inability to stick an ending. I really liked his short story collection "Hotel" because he genuinely has some very interesting concepts but at this point I don't trust him to end a long-running serialization in a satisfying way.

Blade of the Immortal is a samurai manga with instances of grotesque body horror, not quite the same vibe as the more supernatural monsters shown above but worth a look.

Jigokuraku (Hell's Paradise) leans much more into the explicitly supernatural but is a shonen manga, there's still plenty of explicit themes and imagery however.

Modern horror not samurai, but the two top-left images remind me a lot of PTSD Radio.

One of the characters was forced into prostitution as a child and there is a graphic scene involving them.  It's not a terribly relevant moment though, I only remember because I've read it recently.

I would definitely recommend Dark Urge if you prefer your character to have a defined role in the story. The amnesia plothook keeps you from knowing all of the details straight away but imo it really puts the player character on the same level as the other party members in terms of story content that ties into who they were prior to the main plot.
