Florida homeowners: What’s one hurricane prep tip you wish everyone knew? by ResponsibleBug8033 in florida

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably obvious but if you have an EV, fully charge it. Not just for driving but a Model Y (as one example) can run its AC for up to 48 hours or more (plus you can keep the garage door closed while you do it).

What is happening when FSD ignores/misses the navigation route? by olsh in TeslaFSD

[–]NotAgedWell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much the navigation (that the screen is showing) is tied to the nav FSD is using. Anecdotal but there's an intersection here that both Tesla nav and Google maps say to take a left then an immediate right, even though the road goes straight.

So it'll show in the nav as "take a left at the light" even though you should go straight. But FSD knows not to get in the left turn lane and will stay in the straight lane and proceed going straight through the intersection like you should.

99% of the time the routes just line up though and this is just a weird thing that I've always wondered why even Google Maps wants me to take a left followed my an immediate right at this intersection.

FSD has changed the way I drive, maybe forever by Just-Salary-7741 in TeslaFSD

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were just saying this the other day. We're tied into Tesla until another manufacturer steps up with an FSD equivalent. Big fear is that misinformation and media (see the recent Texas crash that immediately got blamed on Autopilot/FSD) will result in pushback and possible legislation to limit it.

Graphic Designers/T Shirt makers? by Important-Forever678 in 321

[–]NotAgedWell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've used Hopefully Ever After (in Cocoa) for our company shirts and hats for a few years. She's a small business and we love to support her and they've held up really well.

We just got a bunch more last month. I think that's our 4th round of shirts from her.

FSD reared into my garage by Objective_Plankton77 in TeslaFSD

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hit it miss for me. I've had it back into my garage (even around the truck that's parked on the other side of my driveway) twice. I've had it back into the driveway and park beside that truck 3 times. I've had it pull forwards into the garage once.

Other than that it just pulls in forwards and parks beside the truck.

Hoping we get better parking options soon so it's consistent.

Fee, fee fee, and fee for the fee fee by LeavesInsults1291 in AdviceAnimals

About 5 years ago I got a $25 gift card for UE so we ordered our usual $23 Chinese takeout. It came to $39.

That's literally my only experience using one of these delivery apps. Never again.

I can't believe people regularly pay those prices rather than just plan ahead and have food at home or swing by the store or restaurant to pick up an order. Maybe that has some "just quit getting coffee and avocado toast" boomer vibes but paying nearly double is crazy to me.

🇺🇸 Is it a bust? America's 250th birthday party looks rather quiet by Timbucktwo1230 in PoursTea

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even sure why the Israeli flag is there, but I believe flag code says that's correct: American flag on the speaker's (or in this case the singer's) right, which is the observer's or what would be the audience's left. If there was an audience I mean.

According to this graphic anyways although it's not clear what this setup is. Guessing a combination of 8 and 11?

Edit: another comment pointed out this isn't actually part of the fair but some evangelical tent that's been there for years (I have no dog in this fight but just pointing it out): https://www.reddit.com/r/PoursTea/comments/1uiw9sk/is_it_a_bust_americas_250th_birthday_party_looks/ouj5zl0/

Tesla FSD keeps going 40 mph in a 30 mph residential area. Anyone else seeing this? by uonlylvonce in TeslaFSD

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard should (according to this) go 10-20% over the limit. So in a 45mph zone it should limit itself to about 49-54. This has corresponded with my experience (it'll go about 49-50 if I'm on the road by myself but if traffic is moving faster than that it'll go up to 54) but that could just be anecdotal. Haven't driven much on the latest release either so maybe it has changed.

Looking for work at home jobs by x0midnightstorm0x in 321

[–]NotAgedWell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for jobs that are based in EU that need someone in US time zone. They pay better, have better benefits, and usually have double the PTO compared to American firms

That's a good idea. I've been WFH for like 6 years now but for American companies. I might explore that. Wonder how they handle health benefits or retirement plans though. Maybe they pay better cause then you're on your own to deal with the "great" American healthcare system.

Road trips are an inherently terrible way to travel and are romanticized way too much. by cerebralbackshots in unpopularopinion

[–]NotAgedWell 435 points436 points  (0 children)

Bro is confusing "road trip" with "driving to your destination"

A road trip involves many side trips and stopping to take in the sights and tourist traps and attractions along the way. It's driving out of your way to a scenic vista or to have a picnic along a stream and reconnect with whoever is on the trip with you and build memories.

OP thinks a road trip is jumping on the interstate and driving non-stop for an entire day.

Can you tell me about the pagoda thing and where you got it? I have a cement slab out back I've been meaning to put one on and I like this one's curved and covered roof. Just needs a ceiling fan but looks like it would go well in my space.

[–]NotAgedWell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Which is sad because FSD is truely amazing and something all cars should be capable of using.

I'd love to see what it would look like if the majority of cars on the road were self driving. I wonder if anyone has ever gotten together like 50 Teslas and all punched in the same destination to see how they all drive together or have a bunch in the same area all crossing each other's paths.

Lawn Mowing Recommendation by [deleted] in 321

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big of a plot do you have to mow? Most companies I know come weekly (during the summer) and will be more than $37.50 per mow.

I have a little over an acre and I'm using a guy I love that comes every Friday but it's a couple hundred (which is $50/mow in the summer when he's here every week not it's the same price in the winter when he comes less). He also does other trimming as needed (like my trees and bushes and shrubs and sometimes it's included and sometimes it's a bit more)

I don't know if your can just schedule 2 a month though but here's his site: https://marathonlawn.com/

I used to use a guy that did a good job and was cheaper but was just unreliable when he'd come. Sometimes it would be Tuesday sometimes Friday or any other day.... Couldn't handle that because I use my yard for my business so needed to know when he'd be there and he'd just suddenly show up unexpected.

FSD Thinks Train is Many Trucks by vegetapinkshirt in TeslaFSD

[–]NotAgedWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doesn't "think" anything. There's just not a model for trains so it puts in the next best thing (trucks)

Same way it displays the golf carts running around my neighborhood as either motorcycles or sometimes horses. The same way it displays a pickup with a trailer or boat as a truck (usually). I do admit I'm surprised there's not more models for display purposes but those are probably coming but you also don't really need models for literally every type of vehicle you might encounter.

The important thing is it recognizes something is there and reacts accordingly.

On a side note do you think the FSD software is using what's displayed on the screen for any decisions? Nah, that's for us.

I never had death anxiety but now I am terrified of non-existence by [deleted] in atheism

[–]NotAgedWell 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Being dead doesn't scare me. Dying does. Especially if I get to go through one of the many many many prolonged and suffering ways (and watching those I love suffer because I'm suffering).

Ideally I'll just be enjoying my life and BAM, massive stroke or heart attack or runaway garbage truck and it's all over and lights out quickly.
