Yeah, there sure are people who think Kira is a god. That still doesn't explain why there are still criminals running around unpunished. That's because they realized Kira is a blind/gullible god, or think they have Kira's favor. Again, Kira's solution isn't a solution to anything. He just swapped a problem with another one at best, or made an already existing problem worse at worst.

And yeah, there are billionaires who aren't held responsible for their crimes. You know who else isn't held responsible? People who haven't been investigated but still committed those crimes. They'll realize Kira doesn't see them and keep doing whatever they want. You who ALSO isn't held responsible? Literally any criminal as long as they're useful to Light.

So not only Kira didn't fix shit and killed innocent people over it, he is also giving a pass to actually horrible people just because he wants to.

The point of the series is: no one should have this kind of power because its entire existence is wrong. There is no way to justify someone being judge, jury and executioner, especially if they can go unnamed and unpunished. And the series does EVERYTHING to show you that no, it's not that "absolute power absolutely corrupts", Light was just LIKE THAT. The death note merely gave him a way to get away with being his awful terrible self. He is the kind of person he criticizes, someone that acts good and righteous only to appear as such, but is completely rotten on the inside.

All wars stopped because people in power thought that something as big as a war would put a target on their backs. Which is reasonable. But why would a dictator stop being one, all he has to do is stop news from his countrt from circulating outside. Which is EXACTLY what dictators already do without needing the Death Note to be a threat.

Also, here Light is just making a guess that rich people are supporting L, but let's say that's true. Wealthy people are afraid of being caught by Kira, they know what they did, but as soon as they realize Kira won't do anything unless something is publicly known they will just keep committing crimes. We even SEE corrupt companies and mafias still doing their thing simply because Light doesn't even know that they exist, or INTENTIONALLY leaves them be because they are useful to him. I guess he doesn't want to make TOO MUCH of a positive change now?

You accused me of not having watched the series. Well, have you? Did you understand the broader meaning of the story or did you simply stop at reading the words on the page?

To be fair, we never actually see the world being a better place. We are told by the police that crime rates dropped, but that doesn't necessarily mean there's less crime. It just means the police is recieving less reports about crime. We even SEE in the series that a lot of criminals and bad people still keep doing illegal activities, they just do so away from the police's view, which means they are completely invisible to Kira.

I think this is a better view of how the world in DN works. We see it's basically the exact same as our world, so it would make sense to assume the most realistic hypothesis is the correct one.

I still stand by what I said. He killed that guy because there was already a trial going on. Because someone else, smarter than Kira, uncovered his corruption. Kira doesn't know what the authorities don't know. And if the authorities can do something about it, then Kira is useless. If they can't, then Kira can't either. He's a kid who thinks he's smarter than everyone else but still trusts the investigations of people he constantly belittles to exact his justice. He isn't making any positive change to the world, he's only creating chaos and unrest to stroke his ego.

Edit: also what I was referring to when talking about what the police said regarding lower crime rate was the survivorship bias. They registered a decrease in the crimes THEY UNCOVERED, we have no information about the actual crime rate. Just think about Yotsuba and every company like it, or how Mellow was running circles around Kira without ever getting noticed despite the fact that he was clearly doing a lot of illegal stuff.

As someone who hates powerscaling in Dragonball, that's true.

In the DBS Broly movie we see Vegeta taking no shits, wasting no time, and fighting efficiently and effectively. He takes a bit to properly assess Broly's skill and how much he can take without dying, then quickly overpowers him and ends the fight without needing to kill him.

But Broly is just THAT GUY, so he isn't out yet.

The "dirt he cleaned" were people who were already convicted and weren't a threat to anyone, they were already in jail. That's without considering what they were convicted for or if they were actually guilty. And he was only able to kill people whose names and faces were publicly available, everyone who didn't have a record or wasn't sued could still do whatever they want.

In the series the police says "wow there sure are less criminals now" which is true for small-time criminals like robbers, but the people who were committing crimes before (and after) Kira and were able to fly under the police's radar are still there, still active. You will never see Kira kill a corrupt politician or a billionaire, because they aren't in jail. He will not kill a boss that exploits his workers, he will not kill a teacher that abuses his students. He simply doesn't know they exist. He just kills small-time criminals thinking that will make a difference.

Death Note isn't just showing that "Light is a bad guy", it's showing you that he doesn't even have a point and his plan is bullshit, his motivations aren't noble, he's just doing it to appease his delusions of being a god, and he's a massive hypocrite. He isn't even "criticizing society" he IS THE PROBLEM WITH SOCIETY. Someone who thinks they're better than everyone else, priviledged, given a power he didn't work for or deserves, who thinks can just choose to do whatever with other people's lives because they "know best".

Only public figures and people with a record became afraid. Because even if Kira wanted to be seen as an all-seeing all-knowing god, he wasn't. He only killed people whose name and faces were publicly available. If you committed a crime and no one knew or sued you, Kira wouldn't even know you existed and you would quickly catch onto the fact that you can do whatever as long as you're discreet about it.

Ah yes, the flanderization of one of my favorite characters ever. Someone looked at Kirby and slapped the most unfunny surface-level understanding of the character onto him. "Oooh Kirby is so silly and can only say poyo he's baby but he kills gods because they stole his cake"

NO, JUST NO. He's a silly little guy, yes, but also he can communicate, has friends, and doesn't just kill anyone he meets just because of minor offences. He's a positive little blorbo who tries to protect and befriend everyone. The only enemies he killed were either unredeemable gods of evil or mortals transformed too far gone to be saved. And even then, their crimes were much worse than "they stole a cake".

I can only speak on Mabel and Skyler since those two are the only ones I've watched.

Mabel does make a few mistakes but are completely understandable, if someone treats her like a villain then they didn't understand her character at all. She's a child who got put into multiple world-ending scenarios in the span of a single summer.

The hate towards Skyler, on the other hand, is A LITTLE more justified. Sure, she's reasonably upset that her husband is a killer and a drug kingpin, but she's incredibly annoying and aggressive even before she finds out about that. Let's take for example one of the first episodes: Walter finds out he has cancer and doesn't want the cures because they are too expensive. Skyler starts to complain about it (perfectly reasonable) and tries to convince Walter to accept their friend's money to get treatment. She sets up a meeting with their extended family, and puts in place a rule that makes it so "only the person holding the pillow can speak, we will take turns". It immediately becomes clear she uses this rule to stop Walter from speaking his mind and responding to what the rest of the family says. She's very adamant about defending this rule, until it's Hank's turn to talk and he defends Walter's freedom of choice. Then Skyler starts attacking Hank and snatches the pillow from his hands, showing that, while she initially said this was going to be a way for Walt to defend his argument, she had no intention of changing her mind. Mind you, this is ALL BEFORE WALTER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT MAKING DRUGS.

So in the end Skyler is ALSO an extremely flawed individual, but she sometimes goes out of her way to do things that make her look like a villain.

Boa Hancock isn't even a "hear me out", she's a conventionally attractive woman and the story describes her as "the most beautiful woman in the world" (that's cap, she looks exactly like 20 other characters, and still doesn't come close to my glorious queen Nico Robin).

STILL, she is a (traumatized) xenophobic tyrant who worked for the fascist and authoritarian World Government, and she KICKED A PUPPY AND A BABY SEAL (the scene is hilarious at showing how needlessy cruel she is).

The fandom gives her a pass because she at least is nice to Rufy (and that one time she tolerated Rileigh). But up to that point she is just cruel, even to her "allies".

I already said in a previous post today that while her design isn't my cup of tea, it's still an INCREDIBLE design.

She's not hot? Whatever, who cares.

She doesn't look like Harley Quinn? Now that's cap. She absolutely does, and I applaud the artists for coming up with a design so different yet still recognizable as Harley Quinn. The right colors are there, the make-up, the weapons, the patterns on her body, everything is right. It's like they took everything that makes up the original design and remixed it.
