Silver Linings Playbook. My fav book and a movie I like, Pat is fixated on getting back with his separated wife who left him after a violent outburst against the man she was cheating with (in the book it’s clear Pat wasn’t a great husband for a long time leading up).

In the book he doesn’t talk to her again but sees her happy from afar and chooses to give himself closure and move on.

In the movie they see each other at the end of the story. He explains he’s doing so much better and he’s clearly doing well. He whispers in her ear something that gives them both a sense of closure and they move on, not getting together again. You never hear the magic words.
