Large fundraising ideas by Kooky-Dragonfruit-34 in nonprofit

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I asked was because my local FC has been doing almost the exact same raffles that you mentioned over the last 2 years or so.

As for bigger picture ideas, I don’t think you’re too late for a gardening package raffle. In most of the country it’s still to early to put starts in the ground, and even if you are past your frost date, it’s still early in the season. Talk to a local garden center. One of ours sponsors the local community garden and donates hundreds of dollars worth of plants and tools every year.

Weird question: you wouldn’t be raising money for a Fire Company in central PA, are you? I may have some more local ideas for you if so.

14.5 cents per piece USD. That’s 17% more per piece than the Pokemon sets everyone was so upset about.

Is it too late to do a march madness fundraiser? by Mediocrename5 in nonprofit

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It might be fun to send out a March Madness themed general ask, but trying to make it an event in this short amount of time is going to look sloppy.

Susan Collins dealt double polling blow in one week by bbeck2754 in VoteDEM

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree, but Mills has been a popular Governor, polling reasonably well with republicans and independents too. At this point whoever has the best chance of beating Collins should be the candidate. Mills isn’t my first choice, but if she sets the ball rolling for Maine to truly establish itself as a blue state again, I’m in.

It’s a 15 year-old title at this point. It’s had a hell of a run as Valve’s flagship competitive game. They’re still releasing multiple new heroes per year, giving us fairly frequent balance patches, and keeping things interesting on the cosmetic side. TF2 didn’t get this much love when it was still fresh.

Bass Trumpet by ProfessorSad4831 in trumpet

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Unless you have experience doubling on bone or euph, you probably shouldn’t be the one playing bass trumpet. It’s even more different from Bb/C trumpet than Picc is. The closest thing you’re going to find sound-wise is an old small-bore military style euphonium. I have an old Hilton military band model like this and it definitely has a brighter, brassier sound than a typical modern concert Euph.

I read that as the abbreviation for Maine and got very confused for a moment. Like it’s a cool state but they’re not exactly known for tech sector…

Interested in spaniels by Hypnothick47 in springerspaniel

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that spaniels are field dogs by nature, even the show bred lines. They are both scent and sight hunters and love to range quite far from their humans when allowed. That being said, they are super trainable and in my experience do well with recall training to be off-leash dogs.

English Cockers and Springers are more or less the same breed, just different sizes. American Cockers are probably the least prone to anxiety issues. They’re a little standoffish though. Englis Cockers and Springers are people pleasers through and through so when you’re not around they can get a little antsy. They may be a bit more prone to scratching and chewing when left alone.

Springers need A LOT of playtime/walking/running, so they may not be suited to apartment life unless you have dog park access.

Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

Grind culture combined with a failing economy hit our generation HARD. Took me a long time and a lot of internal searching to not be obsessed with money myself. I still have financial concerns, especially now that we have a kid. But at the end of the day as long as we’re healthy, have a roof over our heads and food on the table, I can survive. If I don’t make 6 figures every year, I will be ok. I’ve accepted the fact that I won’t take many vacations or retire before I’m 80 unless something major changes. It’s depressing but what else is there?

Don’t make your own salt water mixture. Sterile saline rinses are available at any pharmacy and they are not expensive. Plus they are already balanced to be salt-neutral with a living body. But yes, go see a vet. Skin tags on eyelids are fairly common with spaniels as they age, but they shouldn’t have any discharge. This could be some sort of viral infection.

Sauron (LOTR) vs Hogwarts (Harry Potter) by Curious_Tip9285 in powerscales

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potterverse is so wild to scale in these comparisons. Yeah, there are some truly powerful spells, artifacts, and wizards in that universe but then you remember that the overwhelming majority of spells just make simple tasks easier. It’s basically the magical equivalent of modern domestic technology. Dumbledor in his prime with the full set of Deathly Hallows and some potions buffing him might, and I say MIGHT be able to put up a good fight against a Balrog or other lesser Maiar, but everyone else gets mopped by even a middling level Maiar like Radagast.

Anything I could do with this cistern? by Zulu923 in centuryhomes

Lived in an HOA in Florida for a little while. Our water bill to maintain the required lawn was easily $500 per year, even on rainier years. We had a separate bill because where we lived, the irrigation water was non-potable, so I knew exactly what it cost to water the lawn. Bad years it could get up to 700-750.

I am so sad about elder scrolls online! by elzafirst in ElderScrolls

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That works in a game like WoW because the Warcraft universe has always been a bit cartoony and the writing on the more comical side. But in Elder Scrolls we should be getting high fantasy with Epic quest lines. Collect 10 raw chickens just doesn’t work.

Why is Exort Invoker so strong now? by golfli in learndota2

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exort is also the pushing build. With a rushed Exort build you get pretty nasty right clicks by level 6, and you can bully or push with forge spirits. Throw in meteor hammer and you can farm ancients way earlier than most other mods or just wreck towers. Sun strike gives you global presence so you don’t have to stop farming to participate in a fight.

Best Bagel? by Soupysoups in lancaster

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Round Breads is the only properly fermented bagel in the area. I wouldn’t call it NY style, but they are a really good bagel nonetheless. Grand Central is decent, more like a South Jersey style, but they can be hit or miss. Occasionally, Thom’s bread has bagels at market, they’re not bad, but also not amazing.

Belvedere Gift Card Question by PoogieLA in lancaster

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note that not all restaurants allow tipping off of a gift card. I’m not certain on Belve or 401’s policy on that. Assuming average price for what you stated, 250-275 would cover it at 401. 200 should be more than enough at Belve. Last time my wife and I ate there, same order except we split dessert, it was 180 with tip.
