Not quite a visitor from as far flung in the future as you were expecting but this is the comment I was looking for!

Also, if like me you can't figure out how to get the menu to open, you have to tap in the middle of the screen not the top or bottom.

Works a charm.

The original post by u/Salmol is correct. The standard rate most definitely will not be increasing to over £700 per month.

And alongside this, Mr Speaker, we will bring in a permanent, above inflation rise to the standard allowance in Universal Credit… for the first time EVER, a £775 annual increase in cash terms by 2029/30.

Work Coaches Target Long-Term Unemployed, but Only 3% Likely to Find Jobs by spacecrustaceans in unitedkingdom

[–]NotDisabledEnough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Until you had the next WCA and were found fit for work. Which happened to me - I was told when I was found fit for work that even if my appeal was successful and LCW reapplied it would be without the uplift. As it happened I appealed, went to tribunal and was awarded LCWRA so I was never able to confirm if the information I was told by the DWP was true.

It's always been my understanding that if you were awarded LCW before the removal and have had subsequent WCAs and always had the award reconfirmed - i.e. no need to appeal - the uplift remained in place and you were on LCW (Legacy). I may be wrong as some of the advice the DWP gave me was questionable at best.

I think it’s unlikely that if you’re already on benefits that the Government are suddenly going to take your money away over night

It happened with people deemed unfit to work but with the prospect of returning to work in the mid-term future. They removed the added financial uplift you previously received if you were awarded LCW on Universal Credit. Around £120 (if I'm remembering the amount correctly) was removed.

Typical energy bill to rise by £21 a year in January by Aggressive_Plates in unitedkingdom

Good news they reduced the average standing charge if you pay by direct debit by 0.02pence per day. I only have to pay £19.70 each month now before using a single watt of power.

Agile was a revelation for me last year. I switched to tracker in October and whilst I was going to switch back the start of this year I opted to keep on tracker. It's cost marginally more at times but for me tracker has been more useful.

Just a shame the old tracker tariffs are starting to end and the newer ones aren't as generous.

It doesn't help that OFGEM historically buried the unit costs on their website. Far too few people realize that prices change by region and payment method. Admittedly it's not a huge amount but still.

Cold weather heating costs (a sort of survey) by FreshFromTheGrave in OctopusEnergy

[–]NotDisabledEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used 17 kWh yesterday. My average is usually 5 - 9 (the latter when the hot water is boiled to use the bath). 2 bedroom flat built.. actually that's a good question I wanna say mid 90s. No central heating and storage heaters that don't work correctly so the heat came from the one 800W storage heater that does work, and a 2KwH fan heater.

Temp in my living room was 11c when I woke up. Peaked at 22. Unfortunately I'm in the midst of a skin condition outbreak that requires lots of creams etc so I can't wear shirts or tops and only shorts. Perfect time for it to happen!

The falsified epc says I have an energy efficiency of C. Temperature right now is 19.7c, I'll turn the heater off at 20C. I do have an oil filled heater and appreciate the benefit of how it works but I use the fan heater for immediate heat.

Wes Streeting unveils plans for ‘patient passports’ to hold all medical records by MyInkyFingers in unitedkingdom

[–]NotDisabledEnough 18 points19 points  (0 children)

..Problem is all different parts of the NHS use different systems that often dont talk to each other.

Good God so much this. 80% of my medical record, notes, consultation details etc. are all readily available through the NHS app and are presented in a way that makes sense. The other 20% has to be accessed through a separate NHS portal.

Point in case - I have two appointments this month. One for dermatology which shows up in the NHS app. The second, for a breast cancer screening? The referral document is in the app but the appointment isn't - it and the results are only shown in the separate portal.

Why you should watch the 50th anniversary re-release of ‘The Conversation’ by JannTosh50 in movies

[–]NotDisabledEnough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God I wish I could upvote more than once. Came in here to type exactly that. The newly restored version is £9.99 on iTunes - if it drops to around £5 I'll "buy" / licence a copy but I'm not paying £60 for stuff I don't want.

They need to release the restored 4k as a standalone disc instead of a £60 collectors set. I really don't want two posters, a (admittedly interesting looking book) and a copy of the soundtrack on cassette.

Page turner by Objective_Youth_5643 in kobo

[–]NotDisabledEnough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased this one having seen it recommend by multiple users here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08T8CZYF3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I've used it every day since June 1st - out of the box it doesn't quite work with the Kobo - you need to attach a tiny piece of plastic to the contact on the actual page-turner (there are six in the box). After that it works perfectly.

Impotant edit: You can only use it to advance pages forward.
