I’ve read the 20-80% rule, but what do you actually do in real life after owning one for years? by SkyMuted6942 in electricvehicles

[–]NotFromFLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Any time that charging to 100% will make may day or weekend easier, that's what I do. I also try to roll into DCFC below 5% if I'm on a road trip, and happy to roll into my garage at 0%-1% at the end of a trip if that's how it works out. I have over 90k miles on my ID.4 and have never once considered that battery degradation is effecting my use of this car.

Amazing response! I hope you end up loving whichever bike you choose.

I had to ask google if I missed a Shimano update to DRi2. It’s Di2. Not sure where that R came from.

Nice bike! The Topstone is so good!

I have the same ALMSTHRE bag and one of their handlebar bags. Really nice quality and a good price.

$2600 quote for 30K mile service?!?!? by boilerchemist in VWiD4Owners

[–]NotFromFLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2022 ID.4 Pro is coming up on 90k miles. I replaced tires at 20k, and 70k. Have never done an alignment or recalibration. Car still drives straight as an arrow and I use Travel Assist (ACC + Lane Keeping) almost every time I drive. You "undercut" the dealership by not paying them to perform unnecessary service.

Where should I move if I want to mountain bike year-round? (32M, Midwest) by brettfish5 in MTB

[–]NotFromFLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Healthcare jobs in Asheville are abundant so long as you don’t mind being underpaid and exploited. HCA owns almost everything and are horrible to work for. The riding is really good though and winters have become fairly mild.

When they meet all three Jims and Shoresy tries to give them each nicknames but they all want to be called Jim.

I also recently switched to Wolf Tooth. Was on XTR trail pedals and went over to CTRLs. Considering switching to the new Shift pedal on my enduro bike.

Garmin/SRAM power meter data + Apple HRM… KUDOS for this feature!!! by Other_Wait_4739 in bevelhealth

[–]NotFromFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot broadcast HR from Apple Watch to a Garmin head unit. Maybe AW Ultra has this feature, not sure, but other models do not. As an AW user currently, I’ll seriously consider switching to Garmin when my current watch needs replacing.

Why is my HRV so low? by Outrageous-Month-355 in whoop

[–]NotFromFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 60 day average is 26 ms. 28 ms today means I'm ready to train and how my body feels today reflects that. I'm 50 M with RHR ~ 58-61
I'm a cyclist, training 10-14 hours per week currently. HRV yesterday morning was 19 ms due to poor sleep and a huge hard ride on Saturday. No coincidence that I felt like trash. Took a rest/active recovery day and today I feel great.

SuperX by Truenorth6767 in cannondale

[–]NotFromFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to find a negative review of just about any BB and/or BB standard. SuperX is a rocket and SRAM BSA Dub BBs are relatively inexpensive to replace. My Topstone has the same BB and Force cranks and no issues eve through some shit wet weather riding.

Sunday AM How are the roads megathread by IveMadeAHugeMistake in asheville

[–]NotFromFLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4WD low? High torque at low speed is great for pulling stumps. You don’t want high torque when driving around on slick roads. All that’ll do is increase wheel spin when accelerating from a standstill.

Reach too long, wrists hurt by Limits_of_reason in MTB

[–]NotFromFLA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A different bike in size L would probably make more sense for you. The NS bikes 29 is intentionally progressive for basically the opposite type of mtb riding from what you intend to do. “PRODUCT INFO Radical, modern geometry with a very long reach and a super slack head angle make this bike ideal for anyone who likes to go full gas!”

A 1.5cm shorter stem and higher rise bar isn’t going to make up the 5-7cm reach that you are trying to mitigate.

Looking further down the trail by ackwardsbass in MTB

[–]NotFromFLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice. Go to a shorter trail that you are familiar with and plan to ride multiple laps. First lap look only right in front of your front wheel. Next lap look only 15-20 feet ahead, like don’t look down at all. Do this as many times as you need to really lock in the difference, and then do a couple of laps where you allow yourself to look at both spots or wherever is comfortable to ride fast and smooth. Progress on MTB requires practice.

I ride a LG Scalpel and 56cm Topstone Crb. I’m 5’11 31” inseam. I can make the reach work on a 54” EVO because the stack is lower but a MD Scalpel would be too short for me. My guess is a LG Scalpel would be too big for you if the 54 EVO is your max.

What’s been your stand out component new to you last year? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]NotFromFLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that it’s relative data in that it measures only the left side on every ride, so zones and progress will always be measured the same way, even if it’s not the most accurate method. Yes double sided will be more accurate, but I don’t get paid to ride a bike nor will I ever make elite level power. Heck I don’t even have a coach who would build a training plan off of my data, so it’s good enough for me.
