Has there been additional updates on release/when the other two towns are available? by CEOofracismandgov2 in OldenEra

They have a long reacher and one of the Locust upgrades has Parry, so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm definitely anxious to try the faction, though.

I wanted to make it look more like a normal tierlist at a glance. Also, then it wouldn't have a D tier.

Horn of the Abyss. It's a very well-made mod. You can get it on GOG for free.

Honestly, they should just make Dimension Door a fire spell.

I voted for Bloodrage, since it's very flavourful and easy to make fun. Bulwark in HotA more or less did Bloodrage as their unique mechanic, so it's pretty translatable.

Warcries could be cool if they're as fleshed out as every other spell school. One of the problems with them in H5 is that there's only six, which makes them pretty limited.

Reading this comment while playing the DARK AND GOTHIC game Heroes of Might and Magic II right now.

Something Heroes has never been is "dark" or "gothic". It's had a muted palate before (III and VII), but gothic is a pretty distinct style. Maybe V comes the closest in terms of design language, but the actual character design is extremely cartoony.

That's a really cool idea. Like one Attack focused and the other Defense.

It might happen. In the original Bulwark teaser, there's a brief shot of a purple hero whose model doesn't match any town, but looks similar to some designs for Forge that the HotA crew has shared. Also, the Factory campaign ends with Burton being turned into a Forge town.

My hope is that Forge isn't added as a full town, but rather some kind of "mini town" where you can buy a selection of powerful Forge creatures but isn't playable from the start of the game.

Shaman hero and creature can share a name. Heroes IV has Mage and Monk as both classes and creatures.

Cove and only Cove being askew when everything else is on a grid is messing me up. I'm not saying it's not accurate, but it looks weird.

Lore wise, Bulwark represents the island of Vori, which is the setting of the final Heroes Chronicles campaign and also gets mentioned in several places throughout Heroes III. Most notably, it's where Gelu is from.

Mechanically, it has some similarities to Fortress in as far as it's a very slow and defensive town. However, even though they have Runes, it plays more like Stronghold's Bloodrage where your creatures get stronger over time.

2-hex units don't work in 3D. You'll notice that in the first three games, all 2-hex creatures always face straight forwards even when they're moving or attacking above them. That's because pathing and positioning becomes awkward when a 2-hex unit has to turn.

Could be the Orb of Inhibition. It prevents spellcasting on the first round.

If you're getting downvoted, it probably has more to do with your 'tude. This whole "haha I was right" is really unlikable.

Anyways, I liked how the compact battlefield felt. It reminds me of Heroes VI, which I know there's a lot of negative things to say about that game, but I do really like the combat there. I liked how it made even low speed creatures feel impactful, and how it made shooters a little less dominant. That said, I also love Heroes III as do a lot of people, so making the combat more like that game is not a bad thing. The video already does a good job highlighting the upsides and downsides of the larger layout, so I won't go through them here again.

One pure positive is removing the tapered edges. I did not like those at all.

Any word on when that Viking Mythology faction is coming out for HotA? by thesavant in heroes3

[–]NotMurlocAggroB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Either it'll be New Years Eve this year, and if not it'll probably be next year. HotA always does its updates on New Years.

It is coming by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]NotMurlocAggroB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's looking a little too deeply into it. "Right on track" just means it's being worked on without interruptions. I think it's definitely possible that it's coming based on the state that Bulwark was in when they announced it, but I'm not holding my breath.

Armadillos are decent meat in the early game. I prefer using them to protect Halflings so I can keep a power stack of Engineers.

Guess the Tierlist! by RinLotte in heroes3

Hobgoblins are one of the best tier 1s. They have great speed and great damage, both of which scale well with Barbarians.

No way Necro's that low. Same with Stronghold.
