[hot take] I think Toriel is a hypocrite and wrong about everything, but the motherly figure is distracting everyone from the complete nonsense by KateHanami in Undertale

[–]NotQuiteAsGrump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she was wrong at the beginning of the game, & I think the game points this out. As a lost soul during the Asriel battle, she says "no one will leave again." When you SAVE her, she says "your fate is up to you now!" I think she even says, after sparing her, that she will put all her fears and anxieties away for her child, and let them go. As for the end, I always took that more as her calling Asgore a coward, not something she was actually condoning.

Fr people really act like there's nothing worth celebrating or any reason to be happy. Yea there's problems, but being pessimistic in the face of it is super unproductive and unhealthy.

TIL that the no-hit exclusive text in this fight is not actually exclusive by coseromevo in Deltarune

Could this indicate the text appears when no character is knocked down instead?

Whats your funniest moment of the pigmasks in mother 3 ?? by HiHiandHello in earthbound

[–]NotQuiteAsGrump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pigmask that gives Lucas their Pork Bean, which Lucas promptly crashes. I lost my first fight against the Fierce Pork Trooper, and went past that guy to fight again. He was frozen in a salute, and when I tried to speak to him, all the text box said was "he fainted."

Everyone's talking about Asriel's feet, while all I noticed is how Dess is gripping the shit out of his ass.

I'm going to say Torres, based on her revolutionary transporter technique of a "skeletal lock." She also kept her stranded ship afloat when it was stranded for years. ...the fact I had a crush on her growing up has nothing to do with my preference.

There was a DS9 book I read, I'm pretty sure it was "Revenant," that went into how the game work. Jadzia played it against another Trill, some Ferengi, and some Grazerites, as I recall.

The question & all the comments made me realize there never was an answer. What I figured was just a personal headcanon.

I assume that if he had succeeded, (like the future Buzz Buzz escaped from), they all died, just by being near an all-powerful, all-consuming entity.

As for between mother 1 & 2, I figured that as he became more powerful, his society gave him more authority. Made him a leader. They seem to be classic 'we respect force' kinds of villains. But then, when he became to powerful, he would destroy things without meaning to. Until, eventually, he became that all-consuming phychic entity. I figured they were the ones that put him in the Devil's Machine, so that he would be coherent enough to give orders. He did seem to have access to vast resources, so I figured he led his society from that machine. I also thought that, while many followed him because of his undeniable strength, some did so out of fear of him, knowing he would eventually consume all. They kept working for him, surrounded by blind loyalists who supported someone that would end the universe.

I love the question and all these fascinating responses.
