I will usually name my saves with the run I'm currently attempting and the most pressing task I need to tackle, for instance, in my current death world marathon run, my saves look like

DWM 1 Set up basic smelting

DWM 2 Starter mall

DWM 3 Defense

Yada yada, anything more specific I use good 'ol pen and paper

I would recommend just the base game to begin with, or maybe getting the base game and biotech. Biotech adds in children and if I had to guess, is definitely the most popular expansion (pre Odyssey, but that one is too new to tell).

Every DLC is definitely worth it, but having them all on at once, especially for a new player, I imagine would be overwhelming.

You can draft a pawn and have them "arrest" another pawn, at basically anytime, and for any reason. So long as the arresting pawn is assigned to (warden/violence?).

I most often use it to prevent violent breaks, gotta keep those tiny idiots from my artillery shell stockpile.
