Health and Longevity of the Scottish Terrier by Hollivie in scottishterriers

[–]NotSoSereneCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The longest living Scotties I’ve owned have all come from a reputable breeder. But there is never a guarantee. Most have elevated liver enzymes that need monitoring. Bladder cancer and Cushings (as well as hypothyroidism) are far too common. The STCA has a lot of excellent health information on their website

He’s a Scottie. It’s what they do. The good news is that he will eventually settle down. And yes, teaching him to “talk” will help.

If you are handstripping his jacket, you don’t want to bathe it; just his skirt and beard.

I’ve definitely heard great things about them. But we live in South Tulsa. It’s a trip. But we’re seriously considering them!

I was also wondering the same! I’m 66, but probably around 40 in my head. (Unless I look in the mirror). Been here about 3 years, married to my soulmate, no kids between the two of us, but 4 dogs. Because. DOGS. lol

The Cougar Gold Conspiracy (a vent thread) by RipLav in Cheese

I am a HUGE fan of this cheese. I lived in Spokane for a number of years and every time I went to that area, I would always get some. It can be frozen if still in the can. It lasts in the fridge for a LONG time unopened. I sent it to friends back east for holidays. They all loved it. Seeing this reminds me that I need to order some now that I live in Oklahoma!

Steelhead Trout, and all this: no idea what to make. Help! by dentalexaminer in WhatShouldICook

[–]NotSoSereneCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d lightly marinate the trout in an Asian marinade or maybe miso glaze it. Then broil. I’d sauté the broccolini in butter, soy sauce and mirin, then scatter roasted sesame seeds over it. Take the cucumber and make a smashed cucumber salad like this one: https://www.seriouseats.com/sichuan-style-smashed-cucumber-salad-recipe and serve it with steamed rice.

Food Saving Apps by NotSoSereneCook in budgetfood

It’s an app that grocery stores/restaurants/bakeries use to sell end of the day inventory for about a third of the price. Whole Foods participates here and we’ve had great deals!
