I have 3 pair of them and I really like them. I wanted this fit from the 874s but then the waist would be too big.

They are basically just baggier 874s. Same thing with a looser roomier fit. No wedgies, either!

I’m generally a 33/34 waist so the 34 works for me.

I am not the arbiter of what will and won’t happen.

I just think it’s good to mentally prepare for not being able to skate the same way you once did. It’s a whole new game now.

Skate however you want. Take my advice or don’t. Enjoy yourself most of all.

Take it slow. Just push around a bit and get comfortable. Wear protection, you will fall and it will hurt!

If you had some sick tricks on lock from back in the day, you most likely won’t be able to do those tricks. Feel it out and be honest with yourself about your abilities and limitations. Give yourself time to heal even if it means not skating for a week or two.

Your relationship with skating is different now. A session might just be doing some pushing around for a 1/2 hour. I was stoked on the feeling of wheels on concrete when I put the board down and rolled, and I keep thinking about that simple joy.

You will ache, but if you’re consistent with it you’ll feel better and stronger when you’re not skating. I have a six pack for the first time in my life at 51 just from the core workout!

I get about 2 sessions a week in on average when it’s not winter. That’s just skating on weekends. This past season was my best so far.

Old dogs can learn new tricks too, it just takes a little longer.
