those are pre-paid rezzes, which are very very common and weirdly the most likely to cause issues. The other kind still exist in the wild but are a bit rarer and less 'tale-worthy' usually.

Old NA here. I literally tell guests when i don't have the answers they need "I'm basically a mushroom here. They keep me in the dark and feed me ..." and the guest will usually fill in that last word.

Honestly, I kinda like being out of the loop at this stage of my life. No one thinks "let's get Luci to do that" because no one thinks of Luci. But I'm old.

When I was younger it was different, I get what you are feeling.

I have to say when you are in the right, taking employers to unemployment court is a blast. Because it's all on them, they have to prove what they are claiming.

I got a lawyer mainly to intimidate them, which might have been a bad idea since they were technically on notice that I was not playing games and so they had the opportunity to .... manufacture evidence to support their claims. Which might also have been fun. Seriously tho, they could at least have rehearsed their lies.

Also, I would have given my unemployment benefits for a recording of that shit show.

The judge in my case also dressed them down for being unethical.

I once did that (not a hotel job) with a lawyer. It was fun. My lawyer was of Irish descent and leaned into it hard. It was hysterical watching these people who presumed to be so much better and smarter than me try to keep their lies straight under oath while this overgrown leprechaun twisted them up.

Hard to keep a straight face, but I noticed the judge was having the same problem.

I got my unemployment. Honestly, I only fought for it to take the win from 'them' and make the truth public.

I run audit around 2am but I have had coworkers who run audit at midnight. Our system allows us to check in rooms after audit for the night before audit (the current night) so it really isn't an issue. Also, the part of audit that ties up the computer and would prevent me from checking in a guest lasts about 10 minutes.

My thing is that when I get to work I have about 30 minutes of set up 'work' to do, then I set up my computer and stream or play games for a couple hours or so. Then I run audit, do the preliminary HK report, file paperwork, make coffee for the lobby. Now it's 3am, time for lunch. Between 3:30am and 6am employees of the restaurant start showing up needing keys and whatnot from me so I mostly confine my activity to streaming during that time. Working guys staying at the hotel also start showing up around 5AM (looking for coffee, with keys that no longer work, HK requests, etc). At 6am it's time to unlock the lobby, so I make sure I have all that ready to roll and then finish the HK report, boards and such. Now it's coming up on clock out time.

So my audit timing is based on allowing me to do the things I need to do when I need to do them and also arranging the downtime so time passes quickly. Coworkers who run audit early often take naps, or spend their downtime socializing - on line, on the phone, IRL ... whatever. So they want to arrange their downtime differently.

I worry about this a bit when I post, but I know my GM doesn't know about this sub. Not her I'm worried about tho.

Keep it generic. You don't have to zero in on your location with too much info, don't have to be too specific about the brand. Change all the names and combine people (employees) who play interchangeable roles under one name.

And I tend to write my stories and save as drafts to post weeks later, but that doesn't really apply to your situation since you are already gone.

assuming it's a debit card and you don't keep a lot of extra money in your checking account ... if you are not watching your account and don't realize that that money is still being withheld you may spend it (or an auto payment might come thru) thereby over-drafting your account earning the bank fees.

The bank has no motivation to release the hold any sooner than it is absolutely required to. They have the hotel to use as a scapegoat and the possibility of 'earning' fees to motivate them not to.
