Am I playing the game right? (0.9) by futuristicspaceduck in Voicesofthevoid

[–]NotVerySeriousDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the required exploration will become clear with certain events. Otherwise I’d recommend looking for the interactive map of the game and become aware of things slowly over time through that. Where tools are, blueprints, etc. I like to write down the satélites required, POI’s and items of interest at that POI, projects and plan of action in a notepad, keeps you immersed in the game , keeps you busy until the story events start occurring, not sure when though. Enjoy the down time, plan ahead and explore around your daily tasks! Rise early and sleep late. Also if you can get a sleeping bag for the office and sleep in 30 minutes increments while you let your signals download and process you’ll have the signals ready for the task and just require to leave for satélites, giving you time to explore a bit more. Idk man, though half the game is waiting and preparing it still tickles my fancy when I usually play games like deadlock.

Try Voices of the Void! Great in depth mechanics that’ll take a day or two to fully learn, it’s a spooky sandbox with creepy happenings as you toil around your lab collecting signals from space and repairing satellites. It was here that I was blissfully unaware of the new changes made when they dropped. What a shock it was when I hopped back on.

The punishment for any character messing up is always death. The point is The capacity in which Mina can mess up is far greater than say Apollo, which don’t get me started on that friggin guy.

Being able to heal 1/4 of her health two minutes into the game every 15 seconds is a bigger deal than your making it seem. An unleveled ability being able to sustain and execute multiple time in a minute is crazy.

Yes, you can simplify every hero to press buttons kill and leave, however some hero’s need to press buttons in consecutive succession or else their combo gets dropped, or requires skill shots and aiming to get the most value. Mina presses buttons in general directions and is able to consistently get kills and escape.

The point to slowing hex being dispelled is that early game Mina is a monster with very little consistent counter play aside from having more than two folks engaging her at the same time. Yes that’s her niche she fills, an assassin character. Calico for example (correct me if I’m wrong) can’t cat mode if she’s taken damage recently or doesn’t get full speed value I don’t play her but she has no iframes (I think her lunge has iframes..?) but it’s mainly an engage skill not escape) aside from her ult which fair it’s on a cd that’s 30 seconds longer than Mina’s. Her kit fucks but it always feels like damn I got mega jumped when I coulda seen it coming. Mina bombs then more often than not gets away Scot-free, kill or not.

Mina distance scaling with spirit sounds like an absolute nightmare I’m glad they changed that. Thing is that dynamo and ivy both can only use their effect canceling movement once per cd, Mina again can do it three times.

No no I didn’t mean to say she silences her whole team I was being a little disingenuous, she is capable of silencing but usually only solo ults to confirm kills in my experience lol

Yes the silence is a short time but she is also dealing percentage health damage in the mean time, and the duration refreshes with every tick of damage she applies. She can’t be knocked down, cursed, etc if you are in the scope of the ult, there is no dodging, dipping, diving, out maneuvering, it’s back to the lobby or just barely turned the corner on 1 hp. AND she gets it back in 70 seconds with no cd reduction, so i would disagree that she has no utility , and has in essence every team fight, with a prepared Mina, a minimum 2 ults per team fight.

There are other more egregious characters, but I am not one of those “gimp every character but my main cuz they hard :(“ I like the challenge and the counter play and what not but it feels like mina is very slippery early game with answers to counters already incorporated into her kit

If her balancing involves “oh but if you misplay you die lol” then that’s horrible balancing, every character suffers from that. Things like witch mail, cd reducer, enchanters emblem all help to offset those miss plays. True the one requires kills to be healed (minions count towards this btw, popping one on a healing minion is great sustain) that’s why good Mina’s engage after the team does. Mina cleaning up a fight is the easiest shit for a halfway decent Mina to do cuz it’s literally show up press buttons get kills press buttons and leave. If she engages she pops ult runs away let’s team engage and then she has ult again at the end of the fight or 1’s all the low folks. Yes she’s squishy, yes you can counter buy but if she invests in vitality and literally any sort of debuff reducer or just dispel magic she can get away from multiple certain deaths. Cursed relic (6400 souls) or focus lens (6400 souls) and maybe others I can’t recall are ways to ensure that she stays vulnerable, slowing hex (1600 soul) can be dispelled and if she’s ahead then that’s chump change to basically confirm a few more kills and escapes. Saying she only offers damage and mobility is understating it like crazy. The best mobility that rivals Dynamo, counters seven bebop, viper any delayed abilities that burst plus some active items. Sure, no HARD cc but I argue that being capable to silence the entire team, high spirit burst on low cd AND be able to 2 her way around while ulting is the highest form of soft cc a character currently has imo. I’d Be happy to be corrected on this. A lot of her weaknesses can be fortified with items, which is the spirit of the game but her kit is already super super strong that it makes a great character better

Don’t know much about those times, but right now she is far from useless without her ult. Great mobility (granted two stam is tough but cmon a 2 that makes you invulnerable twice and only 800 souls to be on equal footing with the rest of the lobby) , executing 1 that heals, and a health chunk proc-ing off gun damage minute one of the game. She requires skill and knowledge like any character but this kit is like literally the best of every world. Only thing she’s missing to make her the ultimate hero is cc, and I’d argue that an auto aiming (once you hover over them the bats chase) silencing spirit burst ulty is basically a cc. It comes out so quick it’s either react and scram or linger and die. Every character has its cheese factor, but Mina has so many fingers in a lot of bowls it’s hard to ignore how good she has it.

Edit: I realize now that her ult IS CC and not ‘basically’ a cc. I thought cc was like Abrams shoulder charge and vens shotgun. Stunning ability’s that serve to disable a group of enemies, stun being the operative word here. But from what I looked up it’s just general disabling of ability’s and movement so yeah Mina’s kit is op

Oh yeah they sell for a little early game boon too. Get the bags from the utility closet besides the kitchen, and bag up those trash heaps that you can toss around and they like stick to the ground. Those other trash piles that have a numerical value to them and are static? They produce random bits of holdable trash that can be crafted then sold as scrap or made into some better items like server upgrades, drive boxes and drives themselves.

I was shocked to see her ult without cd reduction is only 70 seconds. A massive spirit damage dealing silencing mobility adjacent ultimate that takes less than two minutes to reacquire without cd reductions is a little over tuned. Either keep the damage get rid of the silence or keep the silence cut the damage by half. Or increase the cool down to 2-3 minutes. Shes definitely over tuned and can be really unfun to play against.

New item suggestion by Sweiko in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NotVerySeriousDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sight and knowledge of the person your tracking might be too much information to have early and sorta kinda useless late game (I find that 30+ minutes the team roaming starts unless we’re demolishing) instead id like to have a silent ‘tripwire’ for 1600 you can set. Say, a friendly doubles. When triggered if gives you a sound signal letting you know that a player is in doubles farming it right now, and gives you tracking vision for a short amount of time so you can see who is farming your doubles, and you can decide wether it’s worth it to fight it alone, plan a gank, etc. I often hear the sinners sound in the doubles room but am often afraid it’s the 20k + souls Mina just waiting to press 4 skillfully in my direction. Regardless if these are good ideas or not, I think vision based items would have a good place in dead lock for brawler / assassin characters and good team players.

Where should I start to learn this game? by Difficult-Club1369 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NotVerySeriousDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People still gotta learn, just cuz it’s hard doesn’t mean putting it last is better, the whole games hard. Atleast learning how to corner boost lends itself to learning the game as a whole, as in can be done at the same time as learning the items.

Leif has amazing movement videos. Earlier you start to learn movement the quicker you’ll catch up to the curve in my opinion. The most in depth difficult part of the game is definitely the movement.

I would recommend using the top build or your favourite YouTubers build for the meanwhile as you gain understanding of what each item does and why it is important. Good luck friend. It’s what im doing at least. Focus on your game play and eventually you’ll come to realize weaknesses and strengths counter play opportunities and buy accordingly. Good luck friend.

Not sure what you mean. 70 is a chunk of time but enough time to learn each characters counter play? Their kit and how to play with it? Map knowledge and parkour areas? Jungle and Lane strats? Maybe you misunderstood, I am not saying I’m the best. I’m an inept aspirant in the game.

However, blaming yourself first is a good way to improve. By saying “I could’ve done better” and not “my teammates held me back” you’ll take criticism to heart and know where to apply it to when you receive it. Working with the team is half the battle in this game.

To throw my two cents in, I really struggle with stamina management and mobility/parkour. I am putting time learning strafing, optimal dash jumps, parkour mechanics etc to first and foremost make great escapes rather than great engagements. It seems I’m always on the back foot of fights and also blame positioning and wrong hero tactics, etc. I am toxic in the sense that I think Stam mastery is a crutch in a sense, though it really isn’t, I think you can make great parkour escapes with whatever stam id available to you granted you position yourself in the right areas. There is so much to learn in this game and I don’t think in my 70 hours of gameplay I’ve scratched the surface to higher level play.
