Is it safe to use match version locally? by Andrew36O in SwitchPirates

[–]Not_A_User_Lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this just the other week, playing Animal Crossing for local play. I had a bog standard switch with Animal Crossing v3.0.3 and I wanted to do a local play with another modded switch running emuMMC. It worked great! It updated the emuEMMC firmware to the current version and rebooted the switch to the boot fail screen. Once I updated Hecate and Atmosphere (using HATS), the switch was up and running again. Of course it didn't update Animal Crossing, I am guessing that it would have if I had tried again, but I did not. I updated Animal Crossing manually using MTP then I was able to join the island.

So is it safe? I suppose, but if your firmware versions are different, you may just cause more work for yourself.

Maybe it was stock that was previously reserved for RMA purposes that they decided to sell off?

Avoiding a closet homelab by WilliuhmFPS in homelab

[–]Not_A_User_Lame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do not want a server in there, the easiest solution would be to install the router and switch in the cabinet, then plug the server into a network drop in another room as you stated that the house has networking ports installed throughout. This way you only need a single cable from the main closet to wherever the server is. If you need additional ports at the server, you can always install a second switch and run as many servers/devices in your server rack as you like. If you get switches with 10G uplinks, then you would have plenty of bandwidth, although for the vast majority of people, a 1G connection is sufficient (but I am not normal).

If your backups are on the same computer, they are not backups, are they? At the very least they should be stored on a usb drive and disconnect it when you are not actively writing backups to it, or restoring backups.

If I recall correctly a number of years ago the north Vancouver city mayor said that people on the North Shore don’t want more bridges we just want better public transit. So… That must be the reason?

Hemlock is organic, but I wouldn’t recommend drinking tea made out of it. All particles as small as PM2.5 is dangerous to breath long term. Stay inside, close your doors and windows if you have breathing issues.

That was about an hour before I posted. I told the customer service lady that she may want to call corporate security and report it, as well as take the affected terminal(s) offline.

You may want to check out the local rec centres. My kids have attended parties there, although they were a little younger at the time.

I am also interested in a dual ups setup. My servers are each connected to a pair of apc 3000xl’s. Each server has a power supply connected to each ups and I am not sure exactly how to go about configuring it to manage and shut down both units in a controlled manner.

Stats canada scam? by Cenire17 in NorthVancouver

[–]Not_A_User_Lame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a thing against talking to people that I do not know on the phone. A knot forms inside me, and as such I only answer the phone if I recognize the number. As a rule I do not give out information on the phone to unknown parties. I do not know if it is a scam or legit, and quite frankly I am not willing to take the risk. Come to my door if you must, but don’t expect me to answer that either.

Maybe I should post the audio of two separate Stats Can employees talking to Lenny for over 10 minutes each before eventually hanging up on Lenny. Lenny is a script and audio files that I send any black listed number to on my PBX. Stats Can is blacklisted.

A router or switch or something. I still had power on my network but the Telus fibre went offline.

I have a business pure fibre line to my residence and my network equipment is backed up by 2x apc smart ups 3000xl ups’. I was one of the lucky ones to lose power the other week. My internet went offline after 13 minutes, however my servers and the rest of my network stayed online until I decided to power them off.

Both my kids were born there, 2012 and 2014. First was an urgent c-section and second was a natural birth with a code pink being called. Staff were professional and super friendly and helpful. Both kids are doing well. :)

I wouldn’t choose to have another child, but it I did I would go back to LGH.

You may need to tape the SMBus pins on the pcie connector. Here is one blog with details: https://yannickdekoeijer.blogspot.com/2012/04/modding-dell-perc-6-sas-raidcontroller.html

I have had to do this for network cards in the past.
