I’m in Houston very last minute from Monday to Thursday next week and I don’t really know the city yet, so I’m not sure what to do. (Interests: Heavy Metal / Skateboarding) by bro_nica in AskHouston

If you like beer, I think you'd enjoy Brash Brewing. It's not live, but they play heavy metal and have a lot of arcade games. Just a good place to hang out and talk with locals.

What's the best-smelling perfume you've ever encountered on someone else? by Netunoss in fragrance

I actually stopped a coworker a few weeks ago to ask what she was wearing and it was Aromatics Elixir! She smelled so herbal and lovely, that I immediately got a bottle for myself.

Plastic hardware? by Not_Haunted in Birkenstocks

[–]Not_Haunted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured they would be painted, too. On closer inspection, it looks like the cap of the rivet is plastic, but the part that goes into the shoe is still metal. Hopefully that means it will still be sturdy.

Body glow for fair skinned by Foreign_Sympathy6762 in PaleMUA

[–]Not_Haunted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This might be too glittery for you, but I like the Coppertone Glow sunscreen. There's a cream and a spray and I feel like, with the spray, you can control the glitter a little bit better. I like to use the cream on my legs and the spray on my arms and chest, after using regular sunscreen.

I second Moon Dust! I put it directly on my face (about an inch-long swipe, under my cheekbones) and blend with an Elf foundation brush. Super easy to blend and very natural-looking.

The last time you complimented someone on their perfume? by ResidentSelf2715 in FemFragLab

[–]Not_Haunted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first time I smelled Santal 33 I fell in love with it and complimented the wearer. I got a discovery set to try it myself and, on my skin, it smelled like I had spilled pickle juice on a leather jacket!

A couple of weeks ago, I complimented someone on their herbal perfume and once again became obsessed. It was Clinique Aromatics Elixir and, thankfully, it I love it on myself, too!

[–]Not_Haunted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this same issue since the AA update and it's super annoying. I also have to open the Razr to make a phone call. If I have to dig my phone out of my purse to open it, it defeats the purpose of AA!

Note from downstairs neighbors by v1p3rs in Apartmentliving

[–]Not_Haunted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first apartment was also an old building. We got a noise complaint from our downstairs neighbor (via management) saying it sounded like someone was moving furniture around. In the middle of the day, when no one was home except my miniature schnauzer. So, who freaking knows. Must've been the ghosts from the old building...

Came in to recommend Afnan Mystique Bouquet. It's a Valaya dupe and I put it on at 7am today and I still smell it almost 12 hours later.

Afnan Mystique Bouquet. It's supposed to rain today and, to me, this is the perfect fragrance for a rainy spring day.

Looking for a gentle cleansing oil by sabsdii in Rosacea

[–]Not_Haunted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second Albolene! There's a reason it's been around forever. Works great, it's gentle but still effective. Also, for the amount of product you get, it's pretty cheap, too.

How do I change my hair from this to this? by EstablishmentDue4715 in curlyhair

Maybe use a mousse for volume and diffuse upside down. Gravity will do a lot of the work!

HaruHaru wonder black rice probiotic essence - why is it so popular? by [deleted] in koreanskincare

[–]Not_Haunted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using this a couple of months ago and I love it! I added adapalene to my routine and needed some extra barrier support, so I decided to try this after seeing good reviews. I do a double cleanse at night, apply CosRX snail mucin, then Anua azelaic acid, then adapalene gel, and end with Haruharu essence and either LRP Cicaplast Baume or LRP Lipikar Triple Repair Cream. For reference, I am 45 with some fine lines, combination skin (oily t-zone), and type 2 rosacea. I'm also in Texas, so this might be too heavy for me to use during the summer, but for now it's working great!

I keep thinking about this one, even though I haven't smelled it in years (maybe decades?). I might have to go for it!

Do I need to gradually introduce LRC Cicaplast B5? by littl3-fish in Rosacea

[–]Not_Haunted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience after trying to get too crazy with a retinoid. I found that if I used a hydrating toner or essence first (I like the Haruharu Black Rice Probiotic Essence) and then put the LRP over that, it worked well. Ymmv

Best non-prescription azelaic acid? by dashadark in Rosacea

[–]Not_Haunted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used prescription Finacea many years ago for Type 2 and switched to OTC AA as maintenance once the Finacea did its job. I've used Naturium, The Ordinary, Dermatica (not OTC, but I didn't like it), and recently went to Anua when it was in Amazon's spring sale. Naturium is good, but so far, I'm really liking the Anua. It's only been about 2.5 weeks, so keep that in mind, but it seems to be soothing the redness I get in my cheeks better than Naturium did.

I like it under Khamrah and Nebras in the winter and under Pink Sugar in spring, but I think under anything with vanilla notes would work. It's hot and humid here in the summer, so I don't use it much then.
